Sharp has launched a new laser projector in its XP-X171QX series. Designed for businesses, it can be used in conference rooms, classrooms or museums, for example.
The XP-X171Q is a 4K UHD projector with a laser light source and up to 16,500 lumens. The XP-X141Q has a brightness of up to 13,500 lumens. According to Sharp: The blue laser is key to achieving this high brightness level, while the red auxiliary laser makes the colors more vivid. The light source is expected to last for 20,000 hours without maintenance. The DLP projector has a screen resolution of WUXGA 1,920 x 1,200 px and an image aspect ratio of 16:10.
According to Sharp, the XP-X171Q is compatible with a wide range of motorized lenses. Throw ratios range from 0.31 to 4.00, depending on lens choice (XP-57UL 0.31-0.33 / XP-58ZL 0.55-0.75 / XP-59ZL 0.74-1.08 / XP-60ZL 1.05 -1.41 / XP-61ZL 1.40-2.11 / XP-62ZL 2.10- 4.00). Input ports include two HDMI 2.0 (HDCP 2.2/1.4) and HDBaseT. Additionally, ProAssist software can be used to remotely control the projector or multiple linked projectors from a computer. Notably, this model does not appear to have built-in speakers. Pricing for the Sharp XP-X171Q laser projector has not yet been officially announced.
