Epson describes it as the world's smallest and lightest 30,000-lumen 4K projector — roughly 53% smaller and 42% lighter than previous models in the same performance class.

This is not simply a brightness upgrade. For rental and staging, visitor attractions and large auditoriums — venues where multiple high-brightness projectors are routinely transported, rigged and struck — a smaller and lighter chassis directly changes deployment economics: fewer vehicles, less labor and a lower total cost of ownership across the projector lifecycle.

2. 3LCD + 4K Crystal Motion: Image Quality Behind 30,000 Lumens

At the heart of the imaging pipeline is Epson's 3-chip 3LCD system, built around a 1.04-inch C2 Fine RGB liquid crystal panel. Because all three primary colors are projected simultaneously, there is no color-wheel rainbow effect and no loss of color brightness — so its color light output equals its white light output at 30,000 lumens (21,000 lumens in Eco mode, per ISO 21118:2020 and IDMS15.4).

For resolution, the EB-XQ2030B uses Epson's patented 4K Crystal Motion technology to deliver a 3840 × 2160 4K image with exceptionally sharp detail, high native contrast and accurate color — essential for content where precision matters, from large-scale outdoor projection mapping to immersive visitor attractions.

Dynamic contrast exceeds 5,000,000:1 with a 3,000:1 native contrast ratio. The projector supports HDR10 and HLG, with 10-bit color processing reproducing up to 1.07 billion colors.

3. Advanced Cooling Engine: Stay Cool to Stay Bright

Squeezing 30,000 lumens into a smaller chassis makes thermal management the hardest engineering challenge. The EB-XQ2030B is built around Epson's proprietary Advanced Cooling Engine, a collection of patented cooling technologies that independently manage the temperature of the laser light source and optical engine components. This controlled thermal environment is what allows the dramatic size and weight reduction while ensuring consistent performance and long-term reliability under intensive, high-duty operation.

Optimized airflow also pays off in acoustics: noise is held to 47 dB in Normal mode and 37 dB in Eco mode — important for long-duration immersive presentations where audiences are close to the equipment.

4. H-Series Lenses: Full 0.34–11:1 Throw Ratio Coverage

Alongside the EB-XQ2030B, Epson is introducing its new H-Series professional lens family, covering throw ratios from 0.35–11:1 (0.34–11:1 across the projector range). The lineup combines four all-new designs and six updated models, with no gaps from ultra-short throw to long throw, plus wider zoom and lens shift ranges.

Two new ultra-short-throw options stand out. One features an L-shaped (periscope) optical design that enables 90-degree off-axis projection, turning ceilings, floors and walls into usable display canvases. The other is a straight UST lens at a 0.39 throw ratio, ideal for rear projection and tight spaces. Notably, zoom capability has been added to the ultra-short-throw range for the first time, giving integrators more headroom on complex sites.

Lenses offer motorized zoom, motorized focus and motorized lens shift, with lens position memory, built-in temperature sensing and ultra-precise manufacturing. H-Series lenses are also backward compatible with previous generations of Epson 30,000-lumen-class projectors — in some cases up to ten years old — so existing installations can upgrade the projector without replacing the entire lens set.

5. IP6X Sealing and a Filter-Free Design

To cope with stage haze, dust and oily atmospheres, the EB-XQ2030B uses a hermetically sealed optical engine and sealed light source module, certified to IP6X dust resistance (per IEC 60529, applied to the optical engine and light source module). Combined with a filter-free design, this significantly reduces maintenance frequency and downtime risk — a decisive factor for installations that are hard to reach.

The laser light source is rated for 20,000 hours in High mode and 30,000 hours in Eco mode, supports near-continuous 24/7 operation, and offers direct power on/off, scheduling and auto power-on functions.

6. Intel SDM and Comprehensive Connectivity

The EB-XQ2030B ships with a broad set of standard inputs and outputs plus a newly integrated Intel SDM slot, which accepts AVoIP modules, media player modules or future signal-standard modules as required. This lets system designers build around existing infrastructure and workflows, simplifying cabling, cutting installation time and future-proofing a long investment cycle.

Connectivity includes HDMI in ×2, HDMI out, HDBaseT, 12G SDI in/out, RS-232C, Ethernet, USB 2.0 ×2, USB Type B (service), NFC, wireless LAN (IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n) and a mini-jack audio output. The projector supports Crestron, Extron IP Link, Extron XTP and AMX Device Discovery control, along with PJLink, SNMP and ESC/VP.net network management, and offers NFC quick read/write configuration to simplify setup and monitoring across single- and multi-projector systems.

Epson positions the EB-XQ2030B for rental and staging, visitor attractions and themed entertainment, commercial signage and retail, immersive spaces and digital art installations, along with selected corporate and higher-education environments such as auditoriums, gymnasiums and lecture halls.

Its feature set is built around those scenarios: edge blending and multi-point geometric correction for seamless multi-projector canvases; 21:9 aspect ratio support, frame interpolation, freeze image, Quick Corner and point correction; an integrated camera for automatic image calibration; and daisy-chain multi-projection, scheduling and web control.

On the ISE 2026 show floor, Epson demonstrated the EB-XQ2030B with the new ELPLU07H short-throw lens, projecting onto a large convex curved screen to show how high-brightness projection maintains consistent image quality on complex surfaces. The projector also earned a ProjectorCentral InfoComm 2026 "Best of Show" award.

Strategically, the EB-XQ2030B is more than a brighter projector.
