At 10:00 on 20 September 2026, JMGO put the JMGO MIGO 360° panoramic smart projector on sale in China, billing it as the industry's first 360° panoramic smart projector. It lists at RMB 2,999 on JD.com, and with China's 10% national trade-in subsidy the buyer's price drops to RMB 1,599.3. Rather than chasing higher resolution or higher brightness like most rivals in this price band, the MIGO focuses on a different question: how to make projection genuinely convenient in a small bedroom or a rented flat.
1. The industry's first 360° panoramic projection: wall, side wall or ceiling
The MIGO's most recognisable feature is its form: a ball-shaped gimbal body with a built-in carry handle and a magnetic base. The head rotates a full 360° on its stand, supporting front, tilt, side and ceiling projection. Users no longer have to move the unit or hunt for a new position — a bedside table, a desk or a window ledge will all do.
The whole machine weighs about 1.2kg (bare unit), roughly the weight of two bottles of soda, and measures 160 x 160 x 210mm. The handle is moulded into the frame, and it comes in two colours, almond white and pudding yellow. From structure to colour scheme, it reads more like a piece of home decor than the "ceiling-mounted equipment" people normally associate with projectors.

2. Native portrait giant screen: 100% pixel use, 3.16x more usable image
One of the MIGO's headline features is its native portrait giant-screen mode, built specifically for the vertical video that now dominates viewing time: short dramas, short clips, live streams and workout follow-alongs.
The comparison JMGO gives is straightforward. On a conventional landscape projector, a 9:16 clip can only be as tall as the panel, so just 31.6% of the pixels are actually used and wide black bars fill the rest. The MIGO's portrait mode presents the image rotated 90 degrees, achieving 100% effective pixel use — a 3.16x increase in usable portrait image area. Content on your phone is no longer a small window scaled up, but a full wall of picture.
The retail listing names short dramas, workout follow-alongs, live streams, idol fancams, along with portrait games, portrait reading and portrait office work as the modes it is designed for.
3. First optical zoom in the thousand-yuan class: 0.98–1.3:1 throw plus 1.3x lossless zoom
The second point of differentiation is the lens. The MIGO carries a 1.3x optical zoom with a throw ratio of 0.98–1.3:1, which JMGO says makes it the first projector in this price class in China to offer optical zoom. That matters in practice: products of this size and price normally resize the image digitally, throwing away pixels every time the picture is shrunk. Optical zoom moves lens elements instead, so image quality stays lossless as the picture changes size — and without moving the unit.

4. Picture quality: DLP display, 750 CVIA lumens and 124% Rec.709
On the display side, the MIGO uses the same DLP display technology found in ten-thousand-yuan projectors, with 1080p (1920 x 1080) resolution, 750 CVIA lumens (equivalent to 750 ISO lumens) of brightness and 124% Rec.709 colour coverage, plus motion compensation to keep fast-moving scenes free of smearing.
Versus the single-panel LCD designs common at this price, DLP holds an edge in colour fidelity, contrast and image stability; JMGO describes the result as "true colours and high contrast, viewable even in a lit room." For setup, the machine offers real-time imperceptible autofocus, real-time imperceptible auto keystone correction and intelligent screen fitting, so there is essentially nothing to adjust by hand. It also includes an intelligent eye-protection mode that dims the beam when someone approaches, and carries a children's and adolescents' eye-comfort certification.
5. Audio and quiet operation: a top-firing circular speaker, down to 26dB
The audio design is unusual: a circular speaker mounted on the top of the body and firing upward, which JMGO says produces 360° surround sound that spreads evenly around the room instead of beaming forward from a front-firing driver.
Output is rated at 1 x 5W, with bass extending down to 80Hz and an equal-loudness audio algorithm that keeps the tonal balance consistent across volume levels. On noise, JMGO quotes operation as low as 26dB (within 1m) — in a bedroom, where the machine sits very close to the viewer, that figure shapes the real-world experience far more than a brightness number on a spec sheet.
6. Smart ecosystem and connectivity: Xiaomi Mijia with Super Xiao Ai voice control
Smart integration is another thread running through the MIGO. The projector works with the Xiaomi Mijia app and Xiaomi Pengpai smart interconnect, and supports Super Xiao Ai voice control — so it is not just a standalone projector but a device that can join a Mijia smart-home setup and link with other appliances at home.
Connectivity and core hardware are as follows: Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.4; 1.5GB RAM plus 64GB of storage, running the Bonfire OS 7 system; and ports comprising HDMI 2.1 x1, USB 2.0 x1 and DC in x1. The unit carries a Grade 1 energy-efficiency certification, draws no more than 65W, and ships with a 24V/2.7A wall adapter.

JMGO announced the MIGO on 17 September 2026 and put it on sale at 10:00 on 20 September 2026. It lists at RMB 2,999 on JD.com and supports China's 10% national subsidy, bringing the post-subsidy price to RMB 1,599.3; JMGO's own online store shows RMB 1,777. 8. Summary
The JMGO MIGO takes a different tack from the prevailing race in the projector market. Instead of competing on higher resolution or higher brightness, it puts its effort into making projection easier to live with in a small space: 360° rotation solves the placement problem, the native portrait giant screen solves the wasted black bars around vertical content, the 1.3x optical zoom solves the fact that picture size is hard to adjust in a small room, and the 1.2kg body with a handle and magnetic base resolves the trade-off between moving the unit and fixing it in place. As short dramas and short clips keep growing, projectors are evolving from the traditional home cinema towards a more flexible personal big screen — and the MIGO is a fairly clear attempt along that path.
