Zorsika WE212 projector lens with a 0.52–0.64:1 throw ratio and a 0.64-inch panel, compatible with 3 RICOH engineering projectors.

WE212 is a short-throw lens for 0.64-inch Ricoh panels, with a 0.52–0.64:1 throw ratio and lens shift. It is compatible with 3 models from 1 model series. This article presents the lens specifications, installation distances, model compatibility list, and replacement considerations all in one place.

Lens shift is the key differentiator of this lens. With a shift range of ±18% horizontally and ±13% vertically, the projector can be installed off the screen centerline and the image moved back into position through lens shift, without relying on keystone correction. Keystone correction has a cost—each adjustment step reduces the effective pixel count, causing text edges to blur. In professional installations, lens shift should always be preferred over keystone correction when it can solve the alignment issue; image quality is the non-negotiable priority.
2. Calculating Installation Distance from Throw Ratio
The throw ratio is the ratio of installation distance to image width. This lens is zoom-enabled (0.52–0.64:1), so each image size corresponds to a range of installation distances, and the lens can be focused anywhere within that range during installation.
| Image Size | Image Width | Required Installation Distance |
|---|---|---|
| 100 inches | 2.15 m | Approx. 1.12 – 1.38 m |
| 120 inches | 2.58 m | Approx. 1.34 – 1.65 m |
| 150 inches | 3.22 m | Approx. 1.68 – 2.06 m |
| 200 inches | 4.30 m | Approx. 2.24 – 2.75 m |
These distances represent the clear distance from the front of the lens to the screen and do not account for rear-housing ventilation or wiring clearance. They are calculated for a 16:10 image; actual distances should be verified through on-site measurements and the manual.
Image quality differs at the two ends of the zoom range: the image is brighter with slightly softer edges near the short-throw end, while the edges are sharper and brightness is slightly lower near the long-throw end. When site conditions allow, the middle of the range is recommended. After installation, first find the sharpest position on the focus ring, then fine-tune the lens shift—adjusting both variables together makes precise alignment difficult.
3. Compatible Models (3 Models, Ricoh)
The table below is ordered from newest to oldest by model production date and includes the resolution, brightness, and original lens zoom ratio for each model, enabling quick selection based on project requirements.
| Model | Brightness | Resolution | Zoom Ratio |
|---|---|---|---|
| PJ YX620 | 5000 lumens | XGA 1024×768 | 1.63X |
| PJ YW620 | 5000 lumens | WXGA 1280×800 | 1.63X |
| PJ YU620 | 5000 lumens | WUXGA 1920×1200 | 1.63X |
The zoom ratio is the zoom factor of the model's original standard lens (the upper limit of its throw-ratio range ÷ the lower limit), not the zoom range of the lens featured in this article.
Common Characteristics of These Models
The original standard lenses for the 3 models mostly fall within the 1.4-2.28:1 throw-ratio range. The 0.52–0.64:1 model featured here effectively adjusts the focal range, allowing the same projection distance to produce a different image size—this is the direct reason for replacing the lens. It also retains full lens-shift capability, so the image can still be aligned after the focal range is adjusted.
4. Three Checks Before Replacement
- The panel and resolution must match. This model is designed for 0.64-inch panels. Projectors with a different panel size or resolution will produce somewhat different projection performance, so checking the projector nameplate before installation is the safest approach.
- Interface and locking mechanism. Interfaces are generally compatible across platforms of the same generation, but the position of the locking latch differs between generations. If the image appears skewed or the edges are not sharp after installation, the lock is usually not fully engaged, rather than there being a problem with the lens itself.
- Factor lens-shift margin into the installation. The shift range provides some installation margin, but edge quality degrades when it is pushed to the limit. For actual use, keep the shift at or below 70% of the specified value.
For models not on the list, it is safer to send us photos of the projector nameplate and original lens for verification—platforms of the same generation often share the same interface, but placing an order based on a similar model name is not worth the risk.
