Zorsika WJ Series · Model WJ230 (Internal Model D67-072) · 2026-10-29

The WJ230 is a short-throw lens for 0.8-inch panels (SMELLY), with a 0.52–0.67:1 throw ratio and lens shift. It supports 2 projector models in 1 model series. This guide presents the lens specifications, installation distances, model compatibility list, and replacement considerations in one place.

Lens shift is the key differentiator of this lens. With ±8% horizontal and ±2% vertical shift, the projector can be installed off the screen's central axis and the image brought back into alignment through lens shift, without keystone correction. Keystone correction comes at a cost—each adjustment step sacrifices some effective pixels and can soften text edges. In engineering installations, never resort to keystone correction when lens shift can solve the alignment; this is the baseline for image quality.

2. Installation Distance by Throw Ratio

The throw ratio is the ratio of the installation distance to the image width. This is a zoom lens (0.52–0.67:1), so each image size corresponds to a range of distances; the lens can be focused at any installation distance within that range.

Image SizeImage WidthRequired Installation Distance
100 inches2.15 mApprox. 1.12 – 1.44 m
120 inches2.58 mApprox. 1.34 – 1.73 m
150 inches3.22 mApprox. 1.68 – 2.16 m
200 inches4.30 mApprox. 2.24 – 2.88 m

These are clear distances from the front surface of the lens to the screen, excluding space for rear chassis ventilation and cable connections. Calculations are based on a 16:10 aspect ratio; actual values are subject to on-site measurement and the manual.

Image quality varies between the two ends of the zoom range: at the short end, the image is brighter and the edges slightly less defined; at the long end, the edges are sharper and brightness is slightly lower. Where the venue allows, use the middle of the range. After installation, first find the sharpest position on the focus ring, then fine-tune the lens shift; adjusting both variables at once makes it difficult to pinpoint the optimum.

3. Compatible Models (2 Models, SMELLY)

The table below is ordered from newest to oldest production and lists the resolution, brightness, and factory-lens zoom ratio for each model, making it easy to identify the right option for a project.

ModelBrightnessResolutionZoom Ratio

SML-L2300U23000 lumensWUXGA 1920×12001.61X

The zoom ratio is the zoom factor of the model's factory-standard lens (the upper limit of the factory throw-ratio range ÷ the lower limit), not the zoom range of the lens discussed in this article.

Common Characteristics of These Models

The factory-standard lenses for both models have throw ratios mostly concentrated around 1.18-1.9:1. The 0.52–0.67:1 ratio of the model in this article effectively changes the focal range, producing different image sizes from the same projection distance—this is the direct reason for replacing the lens. Full lens-shift capability is retained, so the image can still be aligned after adjusting the focal range.

4. Three Checks Before Replacement

  • Panel and resolution must match. This model is compatible with 0.8-inch panels. Projectors with a different panel size or resolution will differ somewhat in projection performance; checking the nameplate before installation is the safest approach.
  • Interface and locking mechanism. Interfaces are generally interchangeable within the same platform generation, but the locking latch position varies by generation. If the image is skewed or the edges are soft after installation, the latch is usually not fully engaged rather than the lens itself being faulty.
  • Allow for lens-shift margin in the installation plan. The shift range provides installation flexibility, but edge image quality declines at the limits. Keep actual use within 70% of the rated value.

For models not included in the list, it is safer to send us the projector nameplate and a photo of the original lens for verification. Same-generation platforms often share the same interface, but ordering based only on a similar model designation is not worth the risk.
