The FU7100-2 is a medium-to-long-throw lens for 0.65/0.66/0.67 panels (SML), with a 4.83–8.2:1 throw ratio. It is compatible with 3 projector models across 1 model series. This guide brings together the lens specifications, installation distances, model compatibility list, and replacement considerations.
1. Lens Specifications
| Model | FU7100-2 |
| Internal Model | — |
| Series | FU Series |
| Throw Ratio | 4.83–8.2:1 |
| Compatible Panel Size | 0.67 inches |
| Compatible Models | 3 Models / 1 Model Series |
| Warranty | 12 months; damage not caused by the user is eligible for after-sales service, based on the date on the shipping document |
2. Calculating Installation Distance from Throw Ratio
The throw ratio is the ratio of the installation distance to the image width. This is a zoom lens (4.83–8.2:1), so each image size corresponds to a range of installation distances, and the lens can focus anywhere within that range during installation.
| Image Size | Image Width | Required Installation Distance |
|---|---|---|
| 100 inches | 2.15 m | Approx. 10.38 – 17.63 m |
| 120 inches | 2.58 m | Approx. 12.46 – 21.16 m |
| 150 inches | 3.22 m | Approx. 15.58 – 26.44 m |
| 200 inches | 4.30 m | Approx. 20.77 – 35.26 m |
The distances above are clear distances from the front of the lens to the screen and do not allow for rear chassis ventilation or cable-routing space. These values are calculated for a 16:10 image; actual distances should be verified on site and according to the manual.
Image quality varies between the two ends of the zoom range: the image is brighter with slightly softer edges near the short-throw end, while the long-throw end produces more defined edges with slightly lower brightness. If the venue allows, the middle of the range is recommended. After installation, first find the sharpest position on the focus ring, then fine-tune the lens shift—adjusting both variables at the same time makes precise alignment difficult.
3. Compatible Models (3 Models, SML)
The table below is ordered from newest to oldest by production date and includes each model's resolution, brightness, and zoom ratio for the standard lens supplied with it, making it easy to find the right option for your project.
| Model | Brightness | Resolution | Zoom Ratio |
|---|---|---|---|
| SML-L1300U | 13000 lumens | WUXGA 1920×1200 | 1.6X |
| SML-L1700U | 17000 lumens | WUXGA 1920×1200 | 1.6X |
| SML-LD1500U | 15000 lumens | WUXGA 1920×1200 | 1.6X |
The zoom ratio is the zoom factor of the standard lens supplied with that model (the upper limit ÷ the lower limit of the original throw-ratio range), not the zoom range of the lens featured in this article.
Common Features of These Models
The standard lenses supplied with these 3 models generally have throw ratios within the 1.5-2.4:1 range. The 4.83–8.2:1 model featured here provides a different focal-length range, allowing different image sizes at the same projection distance—this is the direct reason for replacing the lens. It also retains full lens-shift capability, so the image can still be aligned after the focal range is adjusted.
4. Three Checks Before Replacement
- Make sure the panel and resolution match. This model is designed for a 0.67-inch panel. Projectors with a different panel size or resolution will produce somewhat different images, so checking the projector nameplate before installation is safest.
- Check the interface and locking mechanism. Interfaces are generally compatible across models on the same platform generation, but the position of the locking latch varies between generations. If the image is skewed or the edges are not sharp after mounting, the locking mechanism is usually not fully engaged—this is generally not a problem with the lens itself.
- Allow margin for the zoom range. When measuring the distance, use the endpoints of the range and allow an additional 10–20 cm, as transportation and installation tolerances may push the lens outside the specified range.
For models not listed, the safest way to confirm compatibility is to send us photos of the projector nameplate and original lens—same-generation platforms often share interfaces, but ordering based solely on a similar model code carries unnecessary risk.
