WE691 is a short-throw lens for 0.8-inch panels (XGIMI), with a throw ratio of 0.41–0.49:1 and lens shift. It is compatible with 3 projector models from 1 model series. This article presents the lens specifications, installation distances, compatible projector models, and key replacement considerations in one place.
I. Lens Specifications

Lens shift is the key differentiator of this lens. A horizontal shift range of ±17.6% and vertical shift range of ±6.94% allow the projector to be installed off the screen’s central axis while keeping the image aligned through lens shift, without requiring keystone correction. Keystone correction comes at a cost—every correction step sacrifices some effective pixels and makes text edges appear soft. In professional installations, always use lens shift instead of keystone correction whenever possible, as this is the minimum standard for image quality.
II. Calculating Installation Distance from Throw Ratio
Throw ratio is the ratio of the installation distance to the image width. This is a zoom lens (0.41–0.49:1), so the same image size corresponds to a range of installation distances. The lens can be focused at any position within this range.
| Image Size | Image Width | Required Installation Distance |
|---|---|---|
| 100 inches | 2.15 m | approx. 0.88 – 1.05 m |
| 120 inches | 2.58 m | approx. 1.06 – 1.26 m |
| 150 inches | 3.22 m | approx. 1.32 – 1.58 m |
| 200 inches | 4.30 m | approx. 1.76 – 2.11 m |
These figures represent the clear distance from the front surface of the lens to the screen, excluding cooling and wiring space at the rear of the projector. They are calculated for a 16:10 image; actual on-site measurements and the manual take precedence.
Image quality differs at both ends of the zoom range: toward the short end, the image is brighter and the edges are slightly softer; toward the long end, the edges are sharper and brightness is slightly lower. When site conditions allow, use the middle of the range. After installation, first find the sharpest position on the focus ring, then fine-tune the lens shift—it is difficult to achieve precision when adjusting both at the same time.
III. Compatible Models (3 Models, XGIMI)
The following table is sorted from newest to oldest based on each model’s production date. It includes the resolution, brightness, and zoom ratio of the original lens for each model, enabling you to quickly identify the right option for your project.
| Model | Brightness | Resolution | Zoom Ratio |
|---|---|---|---|
| S90 | 9000 lumens | 4K 3840×2160 | 1.5X |
| S80 | 8000 lumens | 4K 3840×2160 | 1.5X |
| S70 | 7000 lumens | 4K 3840×2160 | 1.5X |
The zoom ratio is the zoom factor of the model’s original standard lens (upper limit ÷ lower limit of the original throw ratio range), not the zoom range of the lens discussed in this article.
Common Features of These Models
The original standard lenses for these 3 models generally have throw ratios within 1.2-1.8:1. The 0.41–0.49:1 model discussed here changes the effective focal-length range, allowing different image sizes at the same projection distance—this is the direct reason for replacing the lens. It also retains full lens shift capability, so the image can still be properly aligned after adjusting the focal range.
IV. Three Checks Before Replacement
- Make sure the panel and resolution match. This model is designed for 0.8-inch panels. Projectors with a different panel size or resolution will show some differences in projection performance. Checking the chassis nameplate before installation is the safest approach.
- Check the interfaces and locking mechanism. Interfaces are generally compatible within the same platform generation, but the locking tab positions differ between generations. If the image is skewed or the edges are soft after installation, the lock usually has not fully engaged; this is not an issue with the lens itself.
- Allow for lens shift headroom during installation. The shift range provides some installation flexibility, but edge image quality degrades at the limits. In actual use, keep the adjustment within 70% of the specified values.
For models not on the list, it is safer to send us the chassis nameplate and a photo of the original lens for verification. Platforms of the same generation often share interfaces, but the risk of placing an order based on a similar model designation is not worth taking.
