Vivitek VL905G Long Zoom Projector Lens: Compatible with D5000 D5180HD D5280U H5080 H5082 H5085

Vivitek Original Lens VL905G Long Zoom is a genuine optical accessory for Vivitek engineering projectors. It is a long-throw lens with a throw ratio of 1.93-2.89:1, designed for D/H engineering and cinema series panels. The original compatibility list covers 6 models; before installation, simply verify the projector model and panel size — no adapter rings needed. The value of an original lens isn't a few extra rows of numbers in a spec sheet, but that it is calibrated at the factory to the optical path and mount of that series: once installed, the image circle, edge illumination, and focus travel all match design values, so you don't need keystone correction to compensate for image quality.

The above specifications are subject to the original manufacturer's specifications. For mechanical dimensions, flange focal distance, and mount type not shown in the spec table, please verify with us against your projector model — ordering based on similar model numbers carries the risk of incompatibility.

2. Converting Throw Ratio to Installation Distance

Throw ratio is the ratio of installation distance to image width. This original lens is zoomable (1.93-2.89:1), so the same image size corresponds to a range of distances; installation anywhere within this range will achieve focus.

Image SizeImage WidthRequired Installation Distance
100 inches2.15 mApprox. 4.15 – 6.21 m
120 inches2.58 mApprox. 4.98 – 7.46 m
150 inches3.22 mApprox. 6.22 – 9.32 m
200 inches4.30 mApprox. 8.30 – 12.43 m

The above are clear distances from the lens front to the screen, excluding rear ventilation and cabling space behind the projector. Calculated for 16:10 aspect ratio; actual values are subject to on-site measurement and the original manufacturer's manual.

Image quality differs at the two ends of the zoom range: toward the near end the image is brighter with slightly softer edges; toward the far end the edges are sharper with slightly reduced brightness. Where space permits, we recommend positioning in the middle of the range; after installation, first find the sharpest point on the focus ring, then fine-tune the shift.

3. Compatible Models (6)

The table below is taken from the original manufacturer's compatibility list; brightness and resolution are filled in from the model database, with "—" where unavailable — no speculation.

To check whether models outside this list are compatible, please send us photos of the projector nameplate and the existing lens for verification — same-generation platforms often share mounts, but ordering based on similar model numbers is a risk not worth taking.

Throw Ratios Across Model Series

The same VL905G Long Zoom installed on the following series has different nominal throw ratios; selection should be based on the actual series of your projector.

4. Three Things to Confirm Before Replacement

  • Panel size must match. The VL905G Long Zoom is designed for D/H engineering and cinema series inch panels. Machines with different panel sizes or resolutions may mount physically, but the image circle and edge illumination will suffer.
  • Calculate installation distance first. This lens has a nominal throw ratio of 1.93-2.89:1; use the table in Section 2 to match your venue dimensions. Prime lenses have no margin; even with zoom, allow 10–20 cm at each end.
  • Check the mount and locking. The original lens is calibrated to the mount of that series; after installation you must hear it lock into place. Image skew or soft edges are usually due to incomplete locking, not a problem with the lens itself.

If unsure, take a photo of the projector nameplate and the existing lens nameplate and send them to us — verification against the actual hardware is the safest approach.
