NEC Original Lens NP18ZL-4K Zoom is an OEM optical accessory for NEC business projectors. It is a long-throw lens (Long Throw) with a throw ratio of 1.71-2.25:1. The official compatibility list covers 2 models. Before installation, simply verify the lens against the projector model and panel size; there is no need to make do with adapter rings. The value of an original lens lies not in the extra figures in its specifications, but in its factory calibration to the optical path and mount of the corresponding projector series. Once installed, the image circle, edge illumination, and focusing travel are all at their designed values, eliminating the need to compensate for image quality with keystone correction.

I. Lens Specifications
| Brand | NEC (NEC) |

| Throw Ratio | 1.71-2.25:1 |
| Product Type | Long-throw (Long Throw) |

The above specifications are subject to the manufacturer's official specifications. For mechanical dimensions, flange distance, and mount type not shown in the specifications table, please contact us with the projector model. Ordering based solely on a similar model carries the risk that the lens will not fit.
II. Converting Throw Ratio into Installation Distance
The throw ratio is the ratio of the installation distance to the image width. This original lens is a zoom lens (1.71-2.25:1), so a given image size corresponds to a range of installation distances. Any position within that range can be brought into focus during installation.
| Image Size | Image Width | Required Installation Distance |
|---|---|---|
| 100 inches | 2.15 m | Approx. 3.68 – 4.84 m |
| 120 inches | 2.58 m | Approx. 4.41 – 5.80 m |
| 150 inches | 3.22 m | Approx. 5.51 – 7.26 m |
| 200 inches | 4.30 m | Approx. 7.35 – 9.67 m |
These distances are the clear distances from the front of the lens to the screen and do not account for rear ventilation or cabling space. Calculated for a 16:10 image, actual distances should be confirmed by on-site measurement and the manufacturer's manual.
Image quality varies between the two ends of the zoom range. Near the close end, the image is brighter and the edges are slightly softer; near the far end, the edges are sharper and the brightness is slightly lower. Where site conditions allow, use the middle of the range. After installation, first find the sharpest setting on the focus ring, then fine-tune the lens shift.
III. Compatible Models (2 Units)
The following table is taken from the official compatibility list. Brightness and resolution are populated from the model database; where unavailable, they are shown as “—” and are not estimated.
| Model | Brightness | Resolution |
|---|---|---|
| PX1005QL-B | 10000 lumens | 3840x2160 |
| PX1005QL-W | 10000 lumens | 3840x2160 |
To determine whether a model not listed here is compatible, send us photos of the projector nameplate and current lens for verification. Platforms of the same generation often share a mount, but ordering based on a similar model name is not worth the risk.
Throw Ratios by Projector Series
The specified throw ratio differs by series when the same NP18ZL-4K Zoom is used. Select the value based on the series of the actual projector.
| Model Series | Throw Ratio |
|---|---|
| — | 1.71-2.25:1 |
IV. Three Things to Confirm Before Replacement
- Confirm the projector chip and resolution.Original lenses are designed for a specific panel size. If the panel specifications differ, the image circle cannot cover the panel, resulting in vignetting or edge illumination loss.
- Calculate the installation distance first. This lens has a specified throw ratio of 1.71-2.25:1. Use the table in Section 2 to calculate the distance for your venue. A fixed-focus lens offers no adjustment margin, while a zoom lens should still allow 10–20 cm of margin at both ends.
- Verify the mount and locking mechanism. The original lens is factory-calibrated to the mount of the corresponding projector series, and you must hear it click into the locked position after installation. A skewed image or soft edges are usually caused by incomplete locking rather than a problem with the lens itself.
If you are unsure, take one photo of the projector nameplate and one of the current lens nameplate, then send them to us. Verification against the actual hardware is the safest approach.
