Barco Original Lens R9801414 Ultra Short Zoom is an OEM optical accessory for Barco engineering projectors. It is a Standard Throw lens with a throw ratio of 0.92-1.33:1. The factory compatibility list covers 26 models. Before installation, simply verify the projector model and panel size; no adapter ring is needed. The value of an OEM lens lies not in a few extra specifications, but in its factory calibration to the optical path and mount of that projector series. Once installed, the image circle, edge illumination, and focus travel all operate at their designed values, so there is no need to use keystone correction to compensate for image quality.

1. Lens Specifications
| Brand | Barco(Barco) |
| Lens Model | R9801414 Ultra Short Zoom |
| Throw Ratio | 0.92-1.33:1 |
| Product Type | Standard Throw |
| Compatible Models | 26 models |
| Warranty | 12 months; eligible for after-sales service if the damage is not caused by the user, based on the date on the shipping receipt |
The above specifications are subject to the original manufacturer’s specifications. Mechanical dimensions, flange distance, and mount type are not listed in the specification table, so please verify them with us based on the projector model. Ordering directly based on a similar model carries the risk that the lens will not fit.
2. Calculating Installation Distance from the Throw Ratio
The throw ratio is the ratio of the installation distance to the image width. This OEM lens is a zoom lens (0.92-1.33:1), so each image size corresponds to a range of installation distances. It can focus at any distance within that range.
| Image Size | Image Width | Required Installation Distance |
|---|---|---|
| 100 inches | 2.15 m | Approx. 1.98 – 2.86 m |
| 120 inches | 2.58 m | Approx. 2.37 – 3.43 m |
| 150 inches | 3.22 m | Approx. 2.97 – 4.29 m |
| 200 inches | 4.30 m | Approx. 3.96 – 5.72 m |
These figures represent the clear distance from the front of the lens to the screen and do not include space required for rear ventilation and cable connections. They are calculated for a 16:10 aspect ratio; actual values should be confirmed through on-site measurements and the manufacturer’s manual.
Image quality varies between the two ends of the zoom range: images are brighter with slightly softer edges near the short end, while the edges appear sharper with slightly lower brightness near the long end. Where the venue allows, use the middle of the range. After installation, first find the sharpest image on the focus ring, and then fine-tune the lens shift.
3. Compatible Models (26 Models)
The following list is taken from the manufacturer’s compatibility list. Brightness and resolution values have been populated from the model database; unavailable values are marked with an em dash (—), and no assumptions have been made.

To confirm whether a model outside the list is compatible, send us a photo of the projector nameplate and the existing lens. Projectors from the same generation often share the same mount, but placing an order based solely on a similar model name carries unnecessary risk.
Throw Ratios by Model Series
The nominal throw ratio varies by series when the same R9801414 Ultra Short Zoom lens is installed. Select the value based on the series of the actual projector.
| Model Series | Throw Ratio |
|---|---|
| — | 0.92-1.33:1 |
4. Three Checks Before Replacement
- Confirm the projector panel and resolution. Each OEM lens is designed for a specific panel size. If the panel specifications differ, the image circle cannot cover the full image area, resulting in vignetting or edge light loss.
- Calculate the installation distance first. This lens has a rated throw ratio of 0.92-1.33:1. Use the table in Section 2 to calculate the distance for your venue. A fixed-focus lens provides no adjustment margin, and even a zoom lens should allow an additional 10–20 cm at both ends of the range.
- Verify the mount and locking mechanism. The OEM lens is calibrated to the mount of the corresponding projector series. After installation, you must hear it lock into place. A skewed image or soft edges are usually caused by incomplete locking rather than a problem with the lens itself.
If you are unsure, take one photo of the projector nameplate and one of the existing lens nameplate, then send them to us. Verification against the physical products is the most reliable approach.
