Sony VPLL-Z4015 long-throw lens, 1.85-2.44:1 ratio, for VPL-F725HZL, VPL-F720HZL, VPL-F1306ZL and VPL-F1006ZL. Official channels; bulk orders welcome.

Sony OEM Lens VPLL-Z4015 is an OEM optical accessory for Sony professional projectors. It is a long-throw lens (Long Throw), with a throw ratio of 1.85-2.44:1, designed for 4-series-inch panels. The official model compatibility list covers 4 models; before installation, simply verify the projector model and panel size, with no need for an adapter ring to make it fit. The value of an OEM lens lies not in the extra rows of figures in the specification sheet, but in its factory calibration for the optical path and mount of projectors in that series: once installed, the image circle, edge illumination, and focus travel all meet the design specifications, so keystone correction is not needed to compensate for image quality.
1. Lens Specifications
| Brand | Sony (Sony) |
| Lens model | VPLL-Z4015 |
| Throw ratio | 1.85-2.44:1 |
| Product type | Long Throw |
| Compatible panel | 4-series-inch |
| Compatible projector models | 4 models |
| Warranty | 12 months; damage not caused by the user can be handled through after-sales service, subject to the date on the shipping invoice |
The above specifications are based on the manufacturer's official specifications. For mechanical dimensions, flange distance, and mount type not shown in the specifications table, please verify them with us using the projector model. Placing an order solely because a model is similar carries the risk that the lens will not fit.
2. Converting Throw Ratio into Installation Distance
The throw ratio is the ratio of installation distance to image width. This OEM lens is a zoom lens (1.85-2.44:1); a given image size corresponds to a range of distances, and the lens can focus anywhere within that range when installed.
| Image Size | Image Width | Required Installation Distance |
|---|---|---|
| 100 inches | 2.15 m | Approx. 3.98 – 5.25 m |
| 120 inches | 2.58 m | Approx. 4.77 – 6.30 m |
| 150 inches | 3.22 m | Approx. 5.97 – 7.87 m |
| 200 inches | 4.30 m | Approx. 7.96 – 10.49 m |
These figures represent the clear distance from the front surface of the lens to the screen and do not allow for cooling and cabling space behind the projector. They are calculated for a 16:10 aspect ratio; actual values are subject to on-site measurements and the manufacturer's manual.
Image quality varies at the two ends of the zoom range: toward the near end, the image is brighter and the edges are slightly softer; toward the far end, the edges are sharper, while brightness decreases slightly. If the installation space allows, use the middle of the range. After installation, turn the focus ring to the sharpest setting, then fine-tune the lens shift.
3. Compatible Projector Models (4 Models)
The table below is taken from the official model compatibility list. Brightness and resolution are populated from the projector model database; values that cannot be obtained are shown as “—” and have not been estimated.
| Projector Model | Brightness | Resolution |
|---|---|---|
| VPL-F725HZL | 7000 lumens | WUXGA, 1920 x 1200 |
| VPL-F720HZL | 7000 lumens | WUXGA, 1920 x 1200 |
| VPL-F1306ZL | — | — |
| VPL-F1006ZL | — | — |
To check whether a model outside the list is compatible, please send us photos of the projector nameplate and the current lens for verification. Platforms of the same generation often share a mount, but ordering based solely on a similar model is not worth the risk.
Throw Ratio by Model Series
The rated throw ratio of the same VPLL-Z4015 varies across the following projector series. Select the value based on the series of the actual projector.
| Model Series | Throw Ratio |
|---|---|
| — | 1.85-2.44:1 |
4. Three Checks Before Replacement
- The panel size must match. VPLL-Z4015 is designed for 4-series-inch panels. Even if the lens fits the mount, projectors with a different panel size or resolution may have problems with the image circle and edge illumination.
- Calculate the installation distance first. This lens has a specified throw ratio of 1.85-2.44:1; use the table in Section 2 to calculate the distance for your installation space. A fixed-focus lens offers no adjustment margin, and even a zoom lens requires a 10–20 cm margin at both ends of the range.
- Verify the mount and locking mechanism. The OEM lens is calibrated for the mount on projectors in this series. After installation, you must hear the locking mechanism engage fully. A skewed image or soft edges are usually caused by incomplete locking, not by a problem with the lens itself.
If you are unsure, send us one photo of the projector nameplate and one of the nameplate on the existing lens. Checking against the actual hardware is the most reliable approach.
