Vivitek D86-1519 Standard Zoom Lens Guide for DU7299Z+, DU7299Z-BK, DU7299Z-WH, DU7299Z-WH Plus

Vivitek Original Lens D86-1519 Standard Zoom is a factory-supplied optical accessory for Vivitek professional projectors. It is a standard-throw lens (Standard Throw) with a throw ratio of 1.54-1.93:1, corresponding to the panel sizes in inches of the DU/DW/DX engineering series. The manufacturer's compatibility list covers 4 models. Verify the projector model and panel size before installation; no adapter rings are needed to make it fit. The value of an OEM lens lies not in the extra rows of specifications, but in its factory calibration to the optical path and mount of that projector series: once installed, the image circle, edge illumination, and focus travel all meet their design values, so keystone correction is not needed to compensate for image quality.

For mechanical dimensions, flange distance, and mount type not shown in the table, please contact us with the projector model. Ordering solely because the model numbers are similar carries the risk that the lens will not fit.

2. Converting Throw Ratio to Installation Distance

The throw ratio is the ratio of the installation distance to the image width. This OEM lens is a zoom lens (1.54-1.93:1), so a given image size corresponds to a range of installation distances, and focus can be achieved anywhere within that range.

Image SizeImage WidthRequired Installation Distance
100 inches2.15 mapprox. 3.31 – 4.15 m
120 inches2.58 mapprox. 3.97 – 4.98 m
150 inches3.22 mapprox. 4.97 – 6.22 m
200 inches4.30 mapprox. 6.62 – 8.30 m

These figures represent the clear distance from the front of the lens to the screen and do not allow for cooling clearance or cable-routing space behind the chassis. They are calculated for a 16:10 image; actual distances should be verified on site and in accordance with the manufacturer's manual.

Image quality varies at the two ends of the zoom range: at the short-throw end, the image is brighter and the edges are slightly softer; at the long-throw end, the edges are sharper and the image is slightly dimmer. When site conditions allow, use the middle of the range. After installation, first find the sharpest setting on the focus ring, then fine-tune the lens shift.

3. Compatible Models (4 models)

The table below is taken from the manufacturer's compatibility list. Brightness and resolution have been populated from the model database; entries that cannot be verified are shown as “—,” and no assumptions are made.

For models not on the list, send us photos of the projector nameplate and the existing lens so we can verify compatibility. Platforms from the same generation often share the same mount, but ordering based on a similar model is not worth the risk.

Throw Ratio by Projector Series

The nominal throw ratio varies by series when the same D86-1519 Standard Zoom is installed. When selecting a lens, use the value corresponding to the series of the actual projector.

4. Three Checks Before Replacement

  • Ensure the panel size matches. D86-1519 Standard Zoom is designed for DU/DW/DX engineering-series panel sizes in inches. Even if the lens fits the mount, projectors with different panel sizes or resolutions may experience image-circle and edge-illumination problems.
  • Calculate the installation distance first. This lens has a rated throw ratio of 1.54-1.93:1. Use the table in Section 2 to calculate the distance for your installation space; a fixed-focus lens offers no adjustment margin, while a zoom lens should also allow an additional 10–20 cm at both ends.
  • Verify the mount and locking mechanism. The OEM lens is calibrated to the mount used by that projector series. After installation, make sure you hear the lock engage fully; a skewed image or soft edges is usually caused by an incompletely engaged lock rather than a fault in the lens itself.

If you are unsure, send us one photo of the projector nameplate and one of the nameplate on the existing lens. Verification against the actual hardware is the most reliable approach.
