Vivitek D88-1824 Standard Zoom Long-Throw Lens Guide: DU9000 Compatibility

Vivitek Original Lens D88-1824 Standard Zoom is an OEM optical accessory for Vivitek engineering projectors. It is a long-throw lens (Long Throw) with a throw ratio of 1.85-2.40:1, designed for the inch panels of the DU/DW/DX engineering series. The OEM compatibility list covers 1 model; simply verify the projector model and panel size before installation, with no need for an adapter-ring workaround. The value of an OEM lens lies not in the additional rows of figures in its specifications, but in the fact that it is calibrated at the factory to the optical path and mount of projectors in the series. Once installed, the image circle, edge illumination, and focus travel are all at their design values, so there is no need to use keystone correction to compensate for image quality.

These specifications are subject to the manufacturer's official specifications. Mechanical dimensions, flange distance, and mount type are not listed in the table. Please contact our team with the projector model for verification; ordering based solely on a similar model number carries the risk that the lens will not fit.

II. Converting Throw Ratio to Installation Distance

The throw ratio is the ratio of the installation distance to the image width. This OEM zoom lens (1.85-2.40:1) produces a range of installation distances for a given image size, and it can focus at any distance within that range.

Image SizeImage WidthRequired Installation Distance
100 inches2.15 mApprox. 3.98 – 5.16 m
120 inches2.58 mApprox. 4.77 – 6.19 m
150 inches3.22 mApprox. 5.97 – 7.74 m
200 inches4.30 mApprox. 7.96 – 10.32 m

These figures represent the clear distance from the front surface of the lens to the screen and do not include clearance for cooling and cabling behind the projector. They are calculated for a 16:10 image; actual distances should be verified by on-site measurement and confirmed against the manufacturer's manual.

Image quality differs at the two ends of the zoom range: toward the short end, the image is brighter and the edges are slightly softer; toward the long end, the edges are sharper and brightness decreases slightly. Where the venue allows, it is recommended to position the lens in the middle of the range. After installation, first find the sharpest setting on the focus ring, then fine-tune the lens shift.

III. Compatible Models (1 model)

The following table is taken from the OEM compatibility list. Brightness and resolution are populated from the model database; unavailable values are shown as "—" and have not been estimated.

To check whether a model outside the list is compatible, please send us photographs of the projector nameplate and the existing lens. Projector platforms of the same generation often share the same mount, but ordering on the basis of a similar model number is not worth the risk.

Throw Ratios by Projector Series

The rated throw ratio of the same D88-1824 Standard Zoom varies depending on the series listed below. Use the value corresponding to the series of the actual projector when selecting a lens.

IV. Three Checks Before Replacement

  • The panel size must match. D88-1824 Standard Zoom is designed for DU/DW/DX engineering-series inch panels. Projectors with a different panel size or resolution may experience image-circle and edge-illumination problems even if the lens fits the mount.
  • Calculate the installation distance first. This lens has a rated throw ratio of 1.85-2.40:1. Use the table in Section II to calculate the distance for your venue. A fixed-focus lens provides no adjustment margin, and even a zoom lens should leave a 10–20 cm margin at both ends of the range.
  • Verify the mount and locking mechanism. The OEM lens is calibrated to the mount of projectors in this series, and you must hear it click into the locked position after installation. A skewed image or soft edges usually indicates that the lens is not fully locked, rather than a problem with the lens itself.

If you are unsure, photograph both the projector nameplate and the existing lens nameplate and send the photos to us. Verification against the actual items is the safest option.
