Sony VPLL-Z4019 Long-Throw Projector Lens for VPL-F725HZL, VPL-F720HZL, VPL-F1306ZL, VPL-F1006ZL

Sony Genuine Lens VPLL-Z4019 is an original optical accessory for Sony business projectors. It is a long-throw (Long Throw) lens with a throw ratio of 2.41-3.07:1, designed for 4-Series Inch panels. The official compatibility list covers 4 models; before installation, simply check the projector body model and panel size — there is no need to make do with adapter rings. The value of an original lens lies not in the extra rows of numbers in the spec sheet, but in the fact that it is calibrated at the factory to the optical path and mount of that projector series: once fitted, the image circle, edge illumination and focus travel are all at their design values, so there is no need to compensate for image quality with keystone correction.

The above specifications are subject to the original manufacturer's specs. For mechanical dimensions, flange distance and mount type that are not shown in the spec sheet, please check with us using your projector model — ordering on the basis of a similar-looking model carries the risk of a lens that will not fit.

II. Converting Throw Ratio into Installation Distance

The throw ratio is the ratio of the installation distance to the image width. This original lens is a zoom lens (2.41-3.07:1): a given image size corresponds to a range of distances, and any position within that range can be brought into focus.

Image SizeImage WidthRequired Installation Distance
100 inch2.15 mapprox. 5.18 – 6.60 m
120 inch2.58 mapprox. 6.22 – 7.92 m
150 inch3.22 mapprox. 7.77 – 9.90 m
200 inch4.30 mapprox. 10.36 – 13.20 m

The above is the clear distance from the front of the lens to the screen, and does not include space at the rear of the projector for cooling and cabling. Figures are calculated for a 16:10 image; actual values are subject to on-site measurement and the original manufacturer's manual.

Image performance differs at the two ends of the zoom range: toward the short-throw end the image is brighter but the edges are slightly softer; toward the long-throw end the edges are sharper while brightness drops slightly. Where the site allows, it is recommended to aim for the middle of the range; after installation, first find the sharpest position on the focus ring, then fine-tune the lens shift.

III. Compatible Models (4 units)

The table below is taken from the official compatibility list; brightness and resolution are filled in from the model database. Where the data cannot be retrieved, 「—」 is shown — no assumptions are made.

For models not on the list, please send us photos of the nameplate on the projector and of the existing lens so we can verify compatibility — platforms of the same generation often share the same mount, but the risk of ordering based on a similar model name is not worth taking.

Throw Ratio by Projector Series

The rated throw ratio of the same VPLL-Z4019 differs across the series listed below; when selecting, use the value for the series your projector actually belongs to.

IV. Three Things to Confirm Before Replacement

  • Make sure the panel size matches. VPLL-Z4019 is designed for 4-Series Inch panels. Machines with a different panel size or a different resolution will have problems with image circle and edge illumination, even if the mount physically fits.
  • Calculate the installation distance first. This lens has a rated throw ratio of 2.41-3.07:1; apply the table in Section 2 to the dimensions of your own venue. A fixed-focus lens leaves no margin, and even a zoom lens needs 10–20 cm of leeway at both ends.
  • Check the mount and the lock. The original lens is calibrated to the mount of that projector series; after fitting, you must hear it click into the locked position. A skewed image or soft edges are usually caused by the lens not being fully locked, not by a problem with the lens itself.

If you are not sure, take one photo of the projector nameplate and one of the nameplate on the existing lens and send them to us — checking against the actual units is the surest approach.
