NEC NP26ZL Zoom Standard Throw Lens Guide for PH1000U PH1400U

NEC OEM Lens NP26ZL Zoom is an OEM optical accessory for NEC professional projectors. It is a standard-throw lens (Standard Throw) with a throw ratio of 1.39-1.87:1. The OEM compatibility list covers 2 projector models; before installation, simply verify the projector model and panel size, with no need to improvise using adapter rings. The value of an OEM lens lies not in the extra rows in its specification sheet, but in the fact that it is calibrated at the factory to the optical path and lens mount of that projector series. Once installed, the image circle, edge illumination, and focusing travel are all at their design values, so there is no need to use keystone correction to compensate for image quality.

I. Lens Specifications

The above specifications are subject to the OEM specifications. For mechanical dimensions, flange distance, and lens mount type not listed in the specification table, please contact us with the projector model. Placing an order based solely on a similar model carries the risk that the lens will not fit.

II. Calculating the Installation Distance from the Throw Ratio

The throw ratio is the ratio of the installation distance to the image width. This OEM lens is a zoom lens (1.39-1.87:1), so a given image size corresponds to a range of distances; the lens can focus at any position within that range.

Image SizeImage WidthRequired Installation Distance
100 inches2.15 mApprox. 2.99 – 4.02 m
120 inches2.58 mApprox. 3.59 – 4.82 m
150 inches3.22 mApprox. 4.48 – 6.03 m
200 inches4.30 mApprox. 5.98 – 8.04 m

These distances are the clear distance from the front surface of the lens to the screen, excluding ventilation and cable-connection space behind the projector. They are calculated for a 16:10 image; actual values must be verified on site and are subject to the manufacturer's manual.

Image quality differs at the two ends of the zoom range: at the short-throw end, the image is brighter and the edges are slightly softer; at the long-throw end, the edges are sharper and brightness is slightly reduced. Where site conditions allow, use the middle of the range. After installation, first find the sharpest setting on the focus ring, then fine-tune the lens shift.

III. Compatible Models (2 Units)

The following table is taken from the OEM compatibility list. Brightness and resolution are populated from the model database; values that cannot be verified are shown as “—” and are not estimated.

ModelBrightnessResolution
PH1000U11000 lumens1920x1200
PH1400U13500 lumens1920x1200

For models not on the list, please send us photos of the projector nameplate and the existing lens so that we can verify compatibility. Projector platforms from the same generation often share a lens mount, but the risk of ordering based on a similar model is not worth taking.

Throw Ratios by Projector Series

The specified throw ratio varies by projector series, even when the same NP26ZL Zoom lens is installed. Use the value for the series of the actual projector when selecting a lens.

IV. Three Checks Before Replacement

  • Confirm the projector imaging chip and resolution. OEM lenses are designed for a specific panel size. If the panel specifications differ, the image circle cannot cover the image, resulting in vignetting or edge light loss after installation.
  • Calculate the installation distance first. This lens has a specified throw ratio of 1.39-1.87:1. Use the table in Section II to calculate the distance for your site. A fixed lens provides no zoom margin, and even a zoom lens needs 10–20 cm of clearance at both ends.
  • Verify the lens mount and locking mechanism. The OEM lens is calibrated to the lens mount of that projector series, and you must hear it lock into place after installation. A skewed image or soft edges usually indicate that the lens is not fully locked, rather than a problem with the lens itself.

If you are unsure, send us one photo each of the projector nameplate and the nameplate on the existing lens. Verification against the actual hardware is the safest approach.
