Barco Genuine Lens R98017241 Ultra Wide Zoom is an OEM optical accessory for Barco professional projectors. It is a Standard Throw lens with a 0.80-1.00:1 throw ratio. The official compatibility list covers one projector model; before installation, simply verify the projector model and panel size, with no need to improvise with adapter rings. The value of a genuine lens lies not in the extra figures in its specification sheet, but in the fact that it is calibrated at the factory to the optical path and lens mount of that projector series. Once installed, the image circle, edge illumination, and focus travel all match their design values, so there is no need to use keystone correction to compensate for image quality.

1. Lens Specifications

These specifications are subject to the manufacturer's official specifications. For mechanical dimensions, flange distance, and mount type not shown in the table, please verify them with us using the projector model. Ordering based solely on a similar model carries a risk that the lens will not fit.
2. Calculating Installation Distance from Throw Ratio
The throw ratio is the ratio of the installation distance to the image width. This genuine lens is a zoom lens (0.80-1.00:1), so a given image size corresponds to a range of installation distances; any position within that range can be brought into focus during installation.
| Image Size | Image Width | Required Installation Distance |
|---|---|---|
| 100 inches | 2.15 m | Approx. 1.72 – 2.15 m |
| 120 inches | 2.58 m | Approx. 2.06 – 2.58 m |
| 150 inches | 3.22 m | Approx. 2.58 – 3.22 m |
| 200 inches | 4.30 m | Approx. 3.44 – 4.30 m |
These distances represent the clear distance from the front of the lens to the screen and do not account for clearance for cooling and cable connections at the rear of the projector. The values are calculated for a 16:10 image format; actual installation should be confirmed by on-site measurement and in accordance with the manufacturer's manual.
Image quality varies at the two ends of the zoom range: near the short end, the image is brighter and the edges are slightly softer; near the long end, the edges are sharper and brightness is slightly lower. Where the venue allows, the middle of the range is recommended. After installation, first find the sharpest position using the focus ring, then fine-tune the lens shift.
3. Compatible Models (1 Projector)
The following table is taken from the official compatibility list. Brightness and resolution are populated from the projector model database; entries that cannot be obtained are shown as “—” and are not guessed.
| Model | Brightness | Resolution |
|---|---|---|
| Medea | 6500 lumens | 3840x2160 |
To check whether a model outside the list is compatible, send us photos of the projector nameplate and the existing lens. Platforms from the same generation often share the same mount, but the risk of ordering based only on a similar model is not worth taking.
Throw Ratio by Projector Series
The nominal throw ratio varies by series when the same R98017241 Ultra Wide Zoom is installed on the following projector series, so choose the value for the series of the actual projector.
| Projector Series | Throw Ratio |
|---|---|
| — | 0.80-1.00:1 |
4. Three Checks Before Replacement
- Confirm the projector chip and resolution. The genuine lens is designed for a specific panel size. If the panel specifications differ, the image circle will not cover the full image, resulting in vignetting or edge light loss.
- Calculate the installation distance first. This lens has a rated throw ratio of 0.80-1.00:1. Use the table in Section 2 to calculate the distance for your venue. Fixed-focus lenses leave no margin, and zoom lenses also require an additional 10–20 cm at both ends.
- Check the mount and locking mechanism. The genuine lens is calibrated to the mount of that projector series. After installation, you must hear it lock into place. A skewed image or soft edges are usually caused by incomplete locking, not by a fault in the lens itself.
If you are unsure, send us one photo each of the projector nameplate and the existing lens nameplate. Verification against the actual items is the most reliable approach.
