Barco Original Lens R9801784 Standard Zoom is a genuine optical accessory for Barco professional projectors. It is a standard-throw lens (Standard Throw) with a throw ratio of 1.22-1.53:1. The manufacturer's official compatibility list covers 15 models. Before installation, simply verify the projector model and panel size; no adapter ring is needed. The value of an original lens lies not in the additional figures in the specification sheet, but in its factory calibration to the optical path and lens mount of that model series. When installed, it delivers the designed image circle, edge illumination, and focusing travel, so there is no need to use keystone correction to compensate for image quality.

The above specifications are subject to the manufacturer's official specifications. For mechanical dimensions, flange distance, and lens mount type not shown in the specification table, please contact us with the projector model. Ordering based solely on a similar model carries the risk that the lens will not fit.
II. Throw Ratio and Installation Distance
The throw ratio is the ratio of the installation distance to the image width. This original zoom lens (1.22-1.53:1) covers a range of distances for each image size and can focus anywhere within that range during installation.
| Image Size | Image Width | Required Installation Distance |
|---|---|---|
| 100 inches | 2.15 m | Approx. 2.62 – 3.29 m |
| 120 inches | 2.58 m | Approx. 3.15 – 3.95 m |
| 150 inches | 3.22 m | Approx. 3.93 – 4.93 m |
| 200 inches | 4.30 m | Approx. 5.25 – 6.58 m |
The distances above are the clear distances from the front surface of the lens to the screen and do not include clearance for rear projector cooling and cable connections. These figures are calculated for a 16:10 image; actual distances should be confirmed through on-site measurement and the manufacturer's manual.
Image quality varies between the two ends of the zoom range. At the shorter-throw end, the image is brighter and the edges are slightly softer; at the longer-throw end, the edges are sharper and brightness decreases slightly. Where the venue allows, we recommend using the middle of the range. After installation, first find the sharpest image using the focus ring, and then fine-tune the lens shift.
III. Compatible Models (15 Models)
The table below is based on the manufacturer's official compatibility list. Brightness and resolution are populated from the model database. Where this information is unavailable, “—” is shown; no values are assumed.

For compatibility with a model not on the list, please send us photos of the projector nameplate and current lens for verification. Platforms of the same generation often share the same lens mount, but ordering based solely on a similar model is not worth the risk.
Throw Ratios by Model Series
The nominal throw ratio for the same R9801784 Standard Zoom differs across the model series listed below. Select the value according to the series of your actual projector.
| Model Series | Throw Ratio |
|---|---|
| — | 1.22-1.53:1 |
IV. Three Checks Before Replacement
- Confirm the projector imaging panel and resolution. Each original lens is designed for a specific panel size. If the panel specifications differ, the image circle cannot cover the full image, resulting in vignetting or light loss at the edges.
- Calculate the installation distance first. This lens has a nominal throw ratio of 1.22-1.53:1. Use the table in Section II to calculate the distance for your venue. A fixed-throw lens provides no adjustment margin, while a zoom lens should still allow an additional 10–20 cm at both ends of the range.
- Verify the lens mount and locking mechanism. The original lens is calibrated to the mount of that model series, and you must hear it lock into place after installation. A skewed image or soft edges are usually caused by the lens not being fully locked, rather than by a problem with the lens itself.
If you are unsure, send us one photo of the projector nameplate and one of the current lens nameplate. Verification against the actual hardware is the most reliable approach.
