Genuine Barco Lens R9802181 GC Zoom is an OEM optical accessory for Barco engineering projectors, featuring a standard throw (Standard Throw) with a throw ratio of 0.84-1.02:1. The factory compatibility list covers 4 models. Before installation, simply verify the projector model and panel size; no adapter rings are needed. The value of an OEM lens lies not in a few extra figures in the specifications, but in the fact that it is calibrated at the factory to the optical path and mount of that projector series. Once installed, the image circle, edge illumination, and focus travel are all at their design values, so there is no need to use keystone correction to compensate for image quality.

I. Lens Specifications

BrandBarco(Barco)
Lens ModelR9802181 GC Zoom
Throw Ratio0.84-1.02:1
Product TypeStandard throw (Standard Throw)

Warranty12 months; damage not caused by the user is covered through after-sales service, based on the date shown on the dispatch invoice

The above specifications are subject to the manufacturer's factory specifications. Mechanical dimensions, flange distance, and mount type are not shown in the specifications table; please verify them with us based on the projector model. Ordering directly based on a similar model carries the risk that the lens will not fit.

II. Converting Throw Ratio to Installation Distance

A throw ratio is the ratio of installation distance to image width. This genuine lens is a zoom lens (0.84-1.02:1), so a given image size corresponds to a range of distances, and it can focus anywhere within that range.

Image SizeImage WidthRequired Installation Distance
100 inches2.15 mapprox. 1.81 – 2.19 m
120 inches2.58 mapprox. 2.17 – 2.63 m
150 inches3.22 mapprox. 2.71 – 3.29 m
200 inches4.30 mapprox. 3.61 – 4.39 m

The distances above are clear distances from the front of the lens to the screen and do not include space for rear cooling and cable connections. They are calculated for a 16:10 image; actual distances should be verified by on-site measurement and in accordance with the manufacturer's manual.

Image quality varies at the two ends of the zoom range: near the close end, the image is brighter and the edges are slightly softer; near the far end, the edges are sharper and brightness is slightly lower. When the venue allows, aim for the middle of the range. After installation, first find the sharpest setting on the focus ring, then fine-tune the lens shift.

III. Compatible Models (4 Projectors)

The table below is taken from the factory compatibility list. Brightness and resolution are populated from the model database; values that cannot be obtained are marked “—” without speculation.

For models not included in the list, please send us photos of the projector nameplate and current lens for verification. Platforms from the same generation often share the same mount, but the risk of ordering based on a similar model is not worth taking.

Throw Ratio by Projector Series

The nominal throw ratio differs by series when the same R9802181 GC Zoom is installed on the following series. For selection purposes, use the value for the projector's actual series.

—0.84-1.02:1

IV. Three Checks Before Replacement

  • Confirm the projector panel and resolution. OEM lenses are designed for a specific panel size. If the panel specification differs, the image circle cannot provide full coverage, causing vignetting or light loss at the edges after installation.
  • Calculate the installation distance first. The nominal throw ratio of this lens is 0.84-1.02:1. Use the table in Section II to calculate the distance for your venue. A fixed lens provides no adjustment margin; even with a zoom lens, leave 10–20 cm of margin at both ends.
  • Verify the mount and locking mechanism. The OEM lens is calibrated for the mount of that projector series, and you must hear it lock into place after installation. A skewed image or soft edges are usually caused by the lens not being fully locked, not by the lens itself.

If you are unsure, take one photo of the projector nameplate and one of the existing lens nameplate and send them to us. Verification against the physical units is the most reliable approach.
