Sony VPLL-Z4045 Long-Throw Lens for VPL-F725HZL VPL-F720HZL VPL-F1306ZL VPL-F1006ZL

Sony Genuine Lens VPLL-Z4045 is a genuine optical accessory for Sony professional projectors. It is a long-throw lens with a throw ratio of 5.56-7.5:1, designed for 4-series-inch panels. The manufacturer’s compatibility list covers 4 models. Before installation, simply verify the projector model and panel size; there is no need to improvise with an adapter ring. The value of a genuine lens lies not in the extra figures in its specification sheet, but in the fact that it is factory-calibrated to the optical path and lens mount of that projector series. Once installed, the image circle, edge illumination, and focusing travel are all at their design values, with no need to compensate for image quality using keystone correction.

The above specifications are subject to the manufacturer’s specifications. For mechanical dimensions, flange distance, and mount type not shown in the specification table, please verify them with us based on the projector model. Ordering directly based on a similar model carries the risk that the lens will not fit.

II. Calculating Installation Distance from the Throw Ratio

The throw ratio is the ratio of the installation distance to the image width. This genuine lens is a zoom lens (5.56-7.5:1), so a given image size corresponds to a range of installation distances. It can focus at any position within that range after installation.

Image SizeImage WidthRequired Installation Distance
100 inches2.15 mApprox. 11.95 – 16.12 m
120 inches2.58 mApprox. 14.34 – 19.35 m
150 inches3.22 mApprox. 17.93 – 24.19 m
200 inches4.30 mApprox. 23.91 – 32.25 m

The above values represent the clear distance from the front face of the lens to the screen and do not include space behind the projector for heat dissipation or cable connections. Calculations are based on a 16:10 image; actual values are subject to on-site measurement and the manufacturer’s manual.

Image quality differs at the two ends of the zoom range: near the close end, the image is brighter and the edges are slightly softer; near the far end, the edges are sharper and the image is slightly dimmer. Where venue conditions allow, the middle of the range is recommended. After installation, first find the sharpest position on the focus ring, then fine-tune the lens shift.

III. Compatible Projector Models (4 models)

The following table is taken from the manufacturer’s compatibility list. Brightness and resolution are populated from the model database; where the data is unavailable, “—” is shown, and no estimates are made.

For models outside the list, please send us photographs of the projector nameplate and the current lens so that we can verify compatibility. Platforms of the same generation often share the same mount, but ordering based on a similar model is not worth the risk.

Throw Ratios by Projector Model Series

The rated throw ratio varies when the same VPLL-Z4045 is installed on the series listed below. Select the value based on the series of the actual projector.

Model SeriesThrow Ratio

IV. Three Checks Before Replacement

  • Confirm that the panel size matches. VPLL-Z4045 is designed for 4-series-inch panels. For projectors with different panel sizes or resolutions, even if the lens fits the mount, the image circle and edge illumination may be compromised.
  • Calculate the installation distance first. This lens has a rated throw ratio of 5.56-7.5:1. Use the table in Section II to calculate the distance for your venue. A fixed-focus lens offers no adjustment margin, and even a zoom lens should allow an additional 10–20 cm at both ends.
  • Verify the mount and locking mechanism. The genuine lens is calibrated to the mount of projectors in this series. After installation, you must hear it lock into place. A skewed image and soft edges are usually caused by incomplete locking, rather than by a problem with the lens itself.

If you are unsure, take one photograph of the projector nameplate and one of the nameplate on the current lens, then send them to us. Verification against the actual hardware is the safest approach.
