Barco R9802183 GC Zoom Standard Throw Lens: G100-W16 G100-W19 G100-W22 G100-W25

Barco OEM Lens R9802183 GC Zoom is an OEM optical accessory for Barco engineering projectors. It offers a standard throw (Standard Throw) with a throw ratio of 1.20-1.50:1. Barco's official compatibility list covers 4 models; before installation, simply verify the projector model and panel size, with no need to resort to adapter rings. The value of an OEM lens lies not in a few extra lines in the specification sheet, but in the fact that it is calibrated at the factory to the optical path and mount of the corresponding projector series. Once installed, the image circle, edge illumination, and focusing travel are all at their designed values, so there is no need to use keystone correction to compensate for image quality.

Specifications are subject to Barco's original specifications. For mechanical dimensions, flange distance, and mount type not listed in the specifications table, please contact us with the projector model. Ordering based solely on a similar model carries the risk that the lens will not fit.

II. Converting Throw Ratio into Installation Distance

The throw ratio is the ratio of the installation distance to the image width. This OEM lens is a zoom lens (1.20-1.50:1), so each image size corresponds to a range of installation distances; the lens can focus at any point within that range during installation.

Image SizeImage WidthRequired Installation Distance
100 inches2.15 mapprox. 2.58 – 3.22 m
120 inches2.58 mapprox. 3.10 – 3.87 m
150 inches3.22 mapprox. 3.87 – 4.84 m
200 inches4.30 mapprox. 5.16 – 6.45 m

These distances represent the clear distance from the front of the lens to the screen and do not account for space behind the projector for heat dissipation and cable connections. They are calculated for a 16:10 image; actual distances should be verified on site and according to the manufacturer's manual.

Image quality varies at the two ends of the zoom range: toward the short-throw end, the image is brighter and the edges are slightly softer; toward the long-throw end, the edges are sharper and brightness decreases slightly. When site conditions allow, we recommend positioning the lens in the middle of the range. After installation, find the sharpest setting on the focusing ring first, then fine-tune the lens shift.

III. Compatible Models (4 Projectors)

The table below is taken from Barco's official compatibility list. Brightness and resolution have been populated from the projector model database; where data is unavailable, “—” is shown rather than making assumptions.

G100-W1919000 lumensWUXGA,1920 x 1200

For models not on the list, please send us photos of the projector nameplate and the existing lens for verification. Platforms from the same generation often share the same mount, but ordering based on a similar model is not worth the risk.

Throw Ratio by Model Series

The nominal throw ratio differs among the series listed below when the same R9802183 GC Zoom lens is installed. Select the value according to the series of the actual projector.

IV. Three Checks Before Replacement

  • Confirm the projector imaging chip and resolution. OEM lenses are designed for a specific panel size. If the panel specifications differ, the image circle cannot cover the full image, resulting in vignetting or edge light loss after installation.
  • Calculate the installation distance first. Use the table in Section II to apply the lens's rated throw ratio of 1.20-1.50:1 to the dimensions of your venue. A fixed-focus lens provides no margin, and even a zoom lens requires a 10–20 cm allowance at both ends.
  • Verify the mount and locking mechanism. The OEM lens is calibrated to the mount of the corresponding projector series and must audibly click into the locked position after installation. A skewed image or soft edges are usually caused by an incompletely locked lens, rather than a problem with the lens itself.

If you are unsure, take one photo each of the projector nameplate and the lens nameplate and send them to us. Verification against the actual hardware is the safest approach.
