Barco R9802184 GC Zoom Standard Throw Lens Guide: G100-W16 G100-W19 G100-W22 G100-W25

Barco Genuine Lens R9802184 GC Zoom is a factory-original optical accessory for Barco engineering projectors, featuring a standard throw (Standard Throw) and a throw ratio of 1.50-2.00:1. The official model compatibility list covers 4 projector models; before installation, simply verify the projector model and panel size—no need to improvise with adapter rings. The value of a genuine lens lies not in the extra figures in the specification sheet, but in the fact that it is calibrated at the factory to the optical path and mount of the corresponding projector series: once installed, the image circle, edge illumination, and focusing travel are all at their design values, so there is no need to use keystone correction to compensate for image quality.

The above specifications are subject to the factory specifications. For mechanical dimensions, flange distance, and mount type not shown in the specifications table, please verify them with us using the projector model; ordering directly based on a similar model carries the risk that the lens will not fit.

2. Calculating Installation Distance from Throw Ratio

The throw ratio is the ratio of installation distance to image width. This genuine lens is a zoom lens (1.50-2.00:1), so a given image size corresponds to a range of installation distances, and it can focus anywhere within that range.

Image SizeImage WidthRequired Installation Distance
100 inches2.15 mApprox. 3.22 – 4.30 m
120 inches2.58 mApprox. 3.87 – 5.16 m
150 inches3.22 mApprox. 4.84 – 6.45 m
200 inches4.30 mApprox. 6.45 – 8.60 m

The distances above are net distances from the front surface of the lens to the screen and do not include space behind the projector for heat dissipation and cable connections. They are calculated for a 16:10 image; actual values should be verified through on-site measurements and the manufacturer's manual.

Image quality differs at the two ends of the zoom range: near the close end, the image is brighter and the edges are slightly softer; near the long end, the edges are sharper and brightness decreases slightly. When site conditions allow, use the middle of the range. After installation, first find the sharpest setting on the focus ring, then fine-tune the lens shift.

3. Compatible Models (4 models)

The following table is taken from the official model compatibility list; brightness and resolution are taken from the model database, with “—” shown where data are unavailable and no values estimated.

For models not on the list, send us photos of the projector nameplate and the existing lens for verification. Projector platforms from the same generation often share the same mount, but ordering based on a similar model is not worth the risk.

Throw Ratio by Projector Series

The nominal throw ratio differs by series when the same R9802184 GC Zoom is installed on the following projector series. Select the value based on the actual projector series in use.

—1.50-2.00:1

4. Three Checks Before Replacement

  • Confirm the projector panel and resolution. Factory-original lenses are designed for a specific panel size. If the panel specifications differ, the image circle cannot cover the full image, resulting in vignetting or edge light loss after installation.
  • Calculate the installation distance first. This lens has a nominal throw ratio of 1.50-2.00:1. Use the table in Section 2 to calculate the distance for your venue; a fixed-focus lens provides no margin, and even a zoom lens requires 10–20 cm of clearance at both ends.
  • Verify the mount and locking mechanism. The factory-original lens is calibrated to the mount of the corresponding projector series. You must hear it lock into place after installation; a skewed image or soft edges are usually caused by the lens not being fully locked, rather than by a problem with the lens itself.

If you are unsure, send us one photo of the projector nameplate and one photo of the existing lens nameplate. Verification against the actual items is the safest approach.
