Vivitek D89-SMLZ01 Semi Long Zoom Projector Lens: Compatible with DK8155Z DU8053Z DU8055Z DU8057Z

Vivitek OEM Lens D89-SMLZ01 Semi Long Zoom is an OEM optical accessory for Vivitek engineering projectors. It is a long-throw lens with a throw ratio of 2.10-4.00:1, designed for DU/DW/DX Engineering Series panels (inch sizes). The official compatibility list covers four models. Before installation, simply verify the projector model and panel size; no adapter-ring workaround is needed. The value of an OEM lens lies not in a few additional rows in the specifications, but in its factory calibration to the optical path and mount of the corresponding projector series. Once installed, the image circle, edge illumination, and focusing travel are all at their design values, so there is no need to use keystone correction to compensate for image quality.

For mechanical dimensions, flange distance, and mount type not shown in the specifications, please contact us with your projector model for verification. Ordering directly based on a similar model carries the risk that the lens will not fit.

II. Calculating Installation Distance from the Throw Ratio

The throw ratio is the ratio of the installation distance to the image width. This OEM lens is a zoom lens (2.10-4.00:1), so each image size corresponds to a range of installation distances, and the lens can focus at any position within that range.

Image SizeImage WidthRequired Installation Distance
100 inches2.15 mApprox. 4.51 – 8.60 m
120 inches2.58 mApprox. 5.42 – 10.32 m
150 inches3.22 mApprox. 6.77 – 12.90 m
200 inches4.30 mApprox. 9.03 – 17.20 m

These figures represent the clear distance from the front surface of the lens to the screen and do not include clearance behind the projector for cooling and cable connections. They are calculated for a 16:10 image; actual values must be verified through on-site measurements and the OEM manual.

Image quality varies between the two ends of the zoom range: at the near end, the image is brighter and the edges are slightly softer; at the far end, the edges are sharper and brightness is slightly lower. Where space permits, we recommend positioning the lens near the middle of the range. After installation, first find the sharpest position using the focus ring, then fine-tune the lens shift.

III. Compatible Projector Models (4 Models)

The table below is taken from the OEM compatibility list. Brightness and resolution are taken from the model database; values that cannot be obtained are shown as “—” and are not estimated.

To determine whether a model outside this list can be used, send us photos of the projector nameplate and the existing lens for verification. Platforms of the same generation often share the same mount, but the risk of ordering based solely on a similar model is not worth taking.

Throw Ratios by Model Series

The rated throw ratio of the same D89-SMLZ01 Semi Long Zoom varies across the series listed below, so select the value based on the series of the actual projector.

IV. Three Checks Before Replacement

  • The panel size must match. D89-SMLZ01 Semi Long Zoom is designed for DU/DW/DX Engineering Series panels (inch sizes). Projectors with a different panel size or resolution may experience problems with the image circle and edge illumination even if the lens physically fits the mount.
  • Calculate the installation distance first. This lens has a rated throw ratio of 2.10-4.00:1. Apply the table in Section II to your venue’s dimensions. A fixed-focus lens offers no adjustment margin, and a zoom lens still requires 10–20 cm of allowance at both ends.
  • Verify the mount and locking mechanism. The OEM lens is calibrated to the mount of the corresponding projector series. After installation, you must hear the lens lock into place. A skewed image and soft edges are usually caused by incomplete locking rather than the lens itself.

If you are unsure, take one photo of the projector nameplate and one photo of the existing lens nameplate and send them to us. Verification against the actual products is the most reliable approach.
