Digital Projection SL-130 Long-Throw Lens Guide: HIGHlite Laser 1080P and HIGHlite Laser WUXGA

Digital Projection Original Lens SL-130 is a factory-supplied optical accessory for Digital Projection professional projectors. It is a long-throw (Long Throw) lens with a throw ratio of 4.16-6.96:1 (Ultra Long Throw), designed for 0.95inch 3DLP(HIGHlite) inch panels. The factory compatibility list covers 2 models. Before installation, simply verify the projector model and panel size—no adapter rings are needed. The value of an OEM lens lies not in the extra figures in its specification sheet, but in the fact that it is factory-calibrated to the optical path and mount of that projector series. Once installed, the image circle, edge illumination, and focus travel all meet their design values, so keystone correction is not needed to compensate for image quality.

The above specifications are based on the manufacturer's original specifications. For mechanical dimensions, flange distance, and mount type not listed in the specification table, please provide the projector model so we can verify compatibility. Ordering solely because the model numbers are similar carries the risk that the lens will not fit.

2. Calculating Installation Distance from Throw Ratio

The throw ratio is the ratio of installation distance to image width. This OEM lens is a zoom lens (4.16-6.96:1 (Ultra Long Throw)). A given image size corresponds to a range of installation distances, and the lens can focus at any position within that range.

Image SizeImage WidthRequired Installation Distance
100 inches2.15 mapprox. 8.94 – 14.96 m
120 inches2.58 mapprox. 10.73 – 17.96 m
150 inches3.22 mapprox. 13.42 – 22.45 m
200 inches4.30 mapprox. 17.89 – 29.93 m

The distances above are the clear distances from the front surface of the lens to the screen and do not include space for rear projector cooling and cable connections. They are calculated for a 16:10 image; the actual distances should be verified through on-site measurement and the manufacturer's manual.

Image quality differs at the two ends of the zoom range: the image is brighter and the edges are slightly softer near end, while the edges are sharper and brightness decreases slightly at the far end. Where the venue allows, use the middle of the range. After installation, turn the focus ring to the sharpest setting, then fine-tune the lens shift.

3. Compatible Projector Models (2 Models)

The table below is taken from the manufacturer's original compatibility list. Brightness and resolution are populated from the model database; where the data is unavailable, they are marked “—” and no assumptions are made.

To check whether a model outside the list is compatible, send us photos of the projector nameplate and the existing lens for verification. Same-generation platforms often share the same mount, but ordering based solely on a similar model designation is not worth the risk.

Throw Ratios by Model Series

The rated throw ratio of the same SL-130 varies across the series listed below. For lens selection, use the value corresponding to the series of the actual projector.

4. Three Checks Before Replacement

  • The panel size must match. SL-130 is designed for 0.95inch 3DLP(HIGHlite) inch panels. Projectors with a different panel size or resolution may experience image-circle and edge-illumination problems even if the mount accepts the lens.
  • Calculate the installation distance first. This lens has a rated throw ratio of 4.16-6.96:1 (Ultra Long Throw). Use the table in Section 2 to determine the distance for your venue; a fixed-focus lens provides no adjustment margin, and even a zoom lens should allow 10–20 cm of adjustment at both ends.
  • Verify the mount and locking mechanism. The OEM lens is calibrated to the mount of projectors in that series, and you must hear it lock securely into place after installation. A skewed image or soft edges usually indicate that the lens is not fully locked, rather than a problem with the lens itself.

If you are unsure, send us one photo of the projector nameplate and one photo of the nameplate on the existing lens. Verification against the physical items is the most reliable approach.
