Sharp XP-57UL Short Zoom Lens Compatibility: XP-X141Q-B, XP-X141Q-W, XP-X171Q-B, XP-X171Q-W

Sharp Genuine Lens XP-57UL Short Zoom is an original optical accessory for Sharp engineering projectors, categorized as ultra short throw (Ultra Short Throw), with a throw ratio of 0.31-0.33:1. The factory compatibility list covers 4 models. Before installation, simply verify the projector model and panel size—no adapter ring is needed to make it fit. The value of an original lens lies not in the additional specifications, but in factory calibration to the optical path and mount of the series: once installed, the image circle, edge illumination, and focus travel all meet the design values, eliminating the need to compensate for image quality with keystone correction.

These specifications are subject to the factory specifications. For mechanical dimensions, flange distance, and mount type not listed in the specifications table, please contact us with your projector model. Ordering solely because the model appears similar risks an incompatible fit.

II. Converting Throw Ratio into Installation Distance

The throw ratio is the ratio of the installation distance to the image width. This original lens is a zoom lens (0.31-0.33:1), so the same image size corresponds to a range of distances. It can focus at any position within this range.

Image SizeImage WidthRequired Installation Distance
100 inches2.15 mapprox. 0.67 – 0.71 m
120 inches2.58 mapprox. 0.80 – 0.85 m
150 inches3.22 mapprox. 1.00 – 1.06 m
200 inches4.30 mapprox. 1.33 – 1.42 m

These figures represent the clear distance from the front surface of the lens to the screen, excluding space required for rear cooling and cable connections. They are calculated for a 16:10 image; actual distances should be verified through on-site measurements and the factory manual.

Image quality differs at the two ends of the zoom range: toward the near end, the image is brighter and the edges are slightly softer; toward the far end, the edges are sharper and brightness decreases slightly. Where room conditions permit, use the middle of the range. After installation, first find the sharpest position on the focus ring, then fine-tune the lens shift.

III. Compatible Projector Models (4 projectors)

The table below is taken from the factory compatibility list. Brightness and resolution are populated from the model database; unavailable values are shown as “—” without speculation.

For models not on the list, send us a photo of the projector nameplate and the current lens for verification. Platforms of the same generation often share a mount, but the risk of ordering based on a similar model is not worth taking.

Throw Ratio by Projector Series

When the same XP-57UL Short Zoom is installed on the series listed below, the nominal throw ratio varies. Select the value based on the series of the actual projector.

IV. Three Checks Before Replacement

  • Confirm the projector imaging chip and resolution. The original lens is designed for a specific panel size. If the panel specifications differ, the image circle cannot cover the full image, resulting in vignetting or edge light loss.
  • Calculate the installation distance first. This lens has a nominal throw ratio of 0.31-0.33:1. Use the table in Section II to calculate against the dimensions of your venue. A prime lens provides no adjustment margin, while a zoom lens should allow 10–20 cm at both ends.
  • Verify the mount and locking mechanism. The original lens is calibrated to the mount of the series, and you must hear it lock into place after installation. A skewed image or soft edges usually indicate that the lens is not fully locked, rather than a problem with the lens itself.

If unsure, take one photo of the projector nameplate and one of the lens nameplate and send them to us. Verification against the actual units is the safest approach.
