Vivitek D89-STD01 Standard Zoom Telephoto Lens Overview for DK8155Z DU8053Z DU8055Z

Vivitek Original Lens D89-STD01 Standard Zoom is an original optical accessory for Vivitek engineering projectors. It is a Long Throw lens with a 1.40-2.11:1 throw ratio, designed for the inch panels of the DU/DW/DX Engineering Series. The factory model compatibility list covers 3 models, so simply verify the projector model and panel size before installation—no adapter ring workaround is needed. The value of an original lens lies not in the extra figures in the specification sheet, but in the fact that it is factory-calibrated to the optical path and mount of that projector series. Once installed, the image circle, edge illumination, and focusing travel all match the design values, eliminating the need for keystone correction to compensate for image quality.

For mechanical dimensions, flange distance, and mount type not listed in the specifications table, please contact us with the projector model for verification. Ordering based solely on a similar model carries the risk that the lens will not fit.

2. Calculating Installation Distance from Throw Ratio

The throw ratio is the ratio of the installation distance to the image width. This original lens has a zoom range of 1.40-2.11:1, so each image size corresponds to a distance range. The lens can focus anywhere within that range when installed.

Image SizeImage WidthRequired Installation Distance
100 inches2.15 mapprox. 3.01 – 4.54 m
120 inches2.58 mapprox. 3.61 – 5.44 m
150 inches3.22 mapprox. 4.51 – 6.80 m
200 inches4.30 mapprox. 6.02 – 9.07 m

These figures represent the clear distance from the front of the lens to the screen and do not account for cooling clearance or cable connection space at the rear of the projector. They are calculated for a 16:10 image; actual distances are subject to on-site measurement and the manufacturer’s manual.

Image quality differs at the two ends of the zoom range: near the close end, the image is brighter and the edges are slightly softer; near the long end, the edges are sharper and brightness is slightly lower. When site conditions allow, it is recommended to use the middle of the range. After installation, first find the sharpest setting on the focus ring, then fine-tune the lens shift.

3. Compatible Projector Models (3 Models)

The following table is taken from the factory model compatibility list. Brightness and resolution are populated from the projector model database; unavailable values are shown as “—” and are not estimated.

ModelBrightnessResolution

DU8053Z14000 lumensWUXGA,1920 x 1200
DU8055Z16000 lumensWUXGA,1920 x 1200

To check whether a model outside the list is supported, please send us photos of the projector nameplate and the current lens for verification—projector platforms from the same generation often share the same mount, but ordering based on a similar model is not worth the risk.

Throw Ratios by Model Series

The nominal throw ratio of the same D89-STD01 Standard Zoom varies depending on the projector series on which it is installed. Select the value based on the series of the actual projector.

4. Three Checks Before Replacement

  • Panel size must match. D89-STD01 Standard Zoom is designed for the inch panels of the DU/DW/DX Engineering Series. Even if the mount accepts it, a projector with a different panel size or resolution may have problems with the image circle and edge illumination.
  • Calculate the installation distance first. The rated throw ratio of this lens is 1.40-2.11:1. Use the table in Section 2 to calculate the distance for the dimensions of your installation space. A fixed-focus lens offers no adjustment margin, and even a zoom lens requires an additional 10–20 cm at both ends.
  • Verify the mount and locking mechanism. The original lens is calibrated to the mount of projectors in this series. After installation, you must hear the lens lock fully into place. A skewed image or soft edges are usually caused by incomplete locking, rather than a problem with the lens itself.

If you are unsure, send us one photo each of the projector nameplate and the nameplate on the current lens. Verification against the actual hardware is the safest approach.
