Vivitek D89-UWZ01 Short Zoom Lens: Compatible with DK8155Z DU8053Z DU8055Z DU8057Z

Vivitek Original Lens D89-UWZ01 Short Zoom is an original optical accessory for Vivitek engineering projectors. It is a short-throw (Short Throw) lens with a throw ratio of 0.55-0.75:1, designed for the panel sizes of the DU/DW/DX engineering series. The manufacturer’s compatibility list covers 4 models. Before installation, simply verify the projector model and panel size; there is no need to make do with adapter rings. The value of an original lens lies not in the additional specification figures, but in the fact that it is calibrated at the factory to the optical path and mount of that projector series. Once installed, the image circle, edge illumination, and focus travel will all operate at their designed values, eliminating the need to use keystone correction to compensate for image quality.

The above specifications are subject to the manufacturer’s specifications. For mechanical dimensions, flange distance, and mount type not shown in the specification table, please contact us for verification based on the projector model. Placing an order solely because the model numbers are similar carries the risk that the lens will not fit.

2. Converting Throw Ratio to Installation Distance

The throw ratio is the ratio of the installation distance to the image width. This original lens is a zoom lens (0.55-0.75:1), so a given image size corresponds to a range of installation distances. The lens can be focused anywhere within that range.

Image SizeImage WidthRequired Installation Distance
100 inches2.15 mApprox. 1.18 – 1.61 m
120 inches2.58 mApprox. 1.42 – 1.93 m
150 inches3.22 mApprox. 1.77 – 2.42 m
200 inches4.30 mApprox. 2.37 – 3.22 m

These figures represent the clear distance from the front surface of the lens to the screen and do not include space behind the chassis for cooling and cable connections. They are calculated for a 16:10 image; actual values should be confirmed by on-site measurement and the manufacturer’s manual.

Image quality varies at the two ends of the zoom range: the image is brighter and the edges are slightly softer near the close end, while the edges are sharper and brightness decreases slightly near the far end. When the venue allows, it is recommended to position the lens in the middle of the range. After installation, first adjust the focus ring to the sharpest position, then fine-tune the lens shift.

3. Compatible Models (4 Models)

The following table is taken from the manufacturer’s compatibility list. Brightness and resolution values are populated from the model database; entries that cannot be verified are marked as “—” and are not estimated.

DU8055Z16000 lumensWUXGA,1920 x 1200

To verify whether a model outside this list is compatible, send us photos of the projector nameplate and the existing lens. Projectors from the same generation often share the same mount, but the risk of ordering based on similar model numbers is not worth taking.

Throw Ratios by Model Series

The rated throw ratio of the same D89-UWZ01 Short Zoom lens differs when installed on the series listed below. When selecting a lens, use the throw ratio for the actual projector series.

4. Three Checks Before Replacement

  • The panel size must match. D89-UWZ01 Short Zoom is designed for DU/DW/DX engineering-series panels (inches). Even if the lens fits the mount, projectors with different panel sizes or resolutions may experience image-circle and edge-illumination issues.
  • Calculate the installation distance first. This lens has a rated throw ratio of 0.55-0.75:1. Use the table in Section 2 to match the dimensions of your venue. A fixed-focus lens offers no adjustment margin, while a zoom lens still requires 10–20 cm of clearance at both ends.
  • Verify the mount and locking mechanism. The original lens is calibrated to the mount of this projector series, and you must hear it lock into position after installation. A skewed image or soft edges usually indicate that the lens was not fully locked, rather than a problem with the lens itself.

If you are unsure, take one photo of the projector nameplate and one photo of the existing lens nameplate and send them to us. Verification against the physical items is the most reliable approach.
