Barco R9803061 ILD Zoom Telephoto Lens for 9 Models

Barco Original Lens R9803061 ILD Zoom is an original optical accessory for Barco professional projectors. It is a Long Throw lens with a 1.40-2.10:1 throw ratio. The Barco compatibility list covers 9 models. Before installation, simply verify the projector model and panel size; there is no need to rely on adapter rings to make it fit. The value of an original lens lies not in the extra figures in its specification sheet, but in the fact that it is calibrated at the factory to the optical path and mount of that model series: once installed, the image circle, edge illumination, and focusing range are all as designed, with no need to use keystone correction to compensate for image quality.

These specifications are subject to the manufacturer's specifications. For mechanical dimensions, flange distance, and mount type not listed in the specification table, please contact us with the projector model for verification. Ordering based solely on similar model names carries the risk of an incompatible fit.

II. Converting Throw Ratio into Installation Distance

The throw ratio is the ratio of installation distance to image width. This original lens is a zoom lens (1.40-2.10:1), so a given image size corresponds to a range of installation distances. It can be brought into focus at any distance within that range.

Image SizeImage WidthRequired Installation Distance
100 inches2.15 mapprox. 3.01 – 4.51 m
120 inches2.58 mapprox. 3.61 – 5.42 m
150 inches3.22 mapprox. 4.51 – 6.77 m
200 inches4.30 mapprox. 6.02 – 9.03 m

These figures represent the net distance from the front surface of the lens to the screen and do not allow for rear cooling or cable connection space on the projector. They are calculated for a 16:10 aspect ratio; actual values are subject to on-site measurements and the manufacturer's manual.

Image quality differs at the two ends of the zoom range: near the short-throw end, the image is brighter and the edges are slightly softer; near the long-throw end, the edges are sharper and brightness is slightly lower. Where space permits, use the middle of the range. After installation, first find the sharpest position using the focus ring, then fine-tune the lens shift.

III. Compatible Models (9 Projectors)

The following table is taken from the Barco compatibility list. Brightness and resolution values are populated from the model database; unavailable data is shown as "—", with no assumptions made.

To check whether a model not on the list is compatible, send us photos of the projector nameplate and existing lens. Platforms from the same generation often share the same mount, but ordering based solely on a similar model name is not worth the risk.

Throw Ratios by Model Series

The nominal throw ratio varies by model series when the same R9803061 ILD Zoom lens is used. Use the value corresponding to the series of the actual projector.

IV. Three Checks Before Replacement

  • Confirm the projector chip and resolution. Original lenses are designed for specific panel sizes. If the panel specifications differ, the image circle cannot cover the full image, resulting in vignetting or edge light loss after installation.
  • Calculate the installation distance first. This lens has a rated throw ratio of 1.40-2.10:1. Use the table in Section II to calculate the distance for your venue. A fixed-focus lens offers no adjustment margin, while a zoom lens should also allow an additional 10–20 cm at both ends.
  • Verify the mount and locking mechanism. The original lens is calibrated to the mount of that model series. You must hear it lock into place after installation. A skewed image or soft edges usually indicate that the lens is not fully locked, rather than a problem with the lens itself.

If you are unsure, take one photo each of the projector nameplate and the existing lens nameplate and send them to us. Verification against the physical items is the most reliable approach.
