NEC NP37ZL Zoom Long Throw Lens: 8 Models incl. PX602UL-B-35, PX602UL-BK, PX602UL-W-35, PX602UL-WH

NEC Original Lens NP37ZL Zoom is an original optical accessory for NEC professional projectors. It is a long-throw (Long Throw) lens with a throw ratio of 1.52-2.92:1. The official compatibility list covers 8 projector models; before installation, simply verify the projector model and panel size—no need to improvise with adapter rings. The value of an original lens lies not in the extra figures in its specification sheet, but in the fact that it is calibrated at the factory to the optical path and lens mount of that model series: once installed, the image circle, edge illumination, and focus travel all meet the design values, eliminating the need for keystone correction to compensate for image quality.

The above specifications are subject to the manufacturer's original specifications. For mechanical dimensions, flange distance, and mount type not shown in the specification table, please provide your projector model so we can verify them. Ordering solely on the basis of a similar model carries the risk that the lens will not fit.

II. Calculating Installation Distance from the Throw Ratio

The throw ratio is the ratio of installation distance to image width. This original lens is a zoom lens (1.52-2.92:1), so a given image size corresponds to a range of installation distances, and the lens can focus at any distance within that range.

Image SizeImage WidthRequired Installation Distance
100 inches2.15 mapprox. 3.27 – 6.28 m
120 inches2.58 mapprox. 3.92 – 7.53 m
150 inches3.22 mapprox. 4.90 – 9.42 m
200 inches4.30 mapprox. 6.54 – 12.56 m

These figures represent the clear distance from the front element of the lens to the screen and do not allow for ventilation and cable-management space at the rear of the projector. They are calculated for a 16:10 image; actual distances should be confirmed through on-site measurements and the manufacturer's instructions.

Image quality varies between the two ends of the zoom range: toward the close end, the image is brighter and the edges are slightly softer; toward the long end, the edges are sharper and brightness is slightly lower. Where venue conditions allow, use the middle of the range. After installation, first find the sharpest position using the focus ring, and then fine-tune the lens shift.

III. Compatible Projector Models (8 Models)

The following table is taken from the manufacturer's compatibility list. Brightness and resolution are populated from the model database; where data is unavailable, “—” is shown rather than estimated.

For models outside the list, send us photos of the projector nameplate and the existing lens so we can verify compatibility. Platforms of the same generation often share a mount, but ordering based on a similar model name carries unnecessary risk.

Throw Ratios for Different Model Series

The specified throw ratio varies by model series when the same NP37ZL Zoom is used. Select the value according to the series of the actual projector.

IV. Three Checks Before Replacement

  • Confirm the projector panel and resolution. The original lens is designed for a specific panel size. If the panel specifications differ, its image circle cannot cover the full panel, resulting in vignetting or edge light loss after installation.
  • Calculate the installation distance first. This lens has a specified throw ratio of 1.52-2.92:1; use the table in Section 2 to calculate the distance for your venue. A fixed-focal-length lens offers no adjustment margin, and even a zoom lens should have 10–20 cm of extra allowance at both ends.
  • Verify the mount and locking mechanism. The original lens is calibrated to the mount of that model series and must be heard to click into the locked position after installation. A skewed image or soft edges are usually caused by the lens not being fully locked, rather than by a fault in the lens itself.

If you are unsure, take one photo of the projector nameplate and one of the existing lens nameplate and send them to us. Verification against the actual hardware is the most reliable approach.
