Vivitek D89-WZ01 Wide Zoom Standard Throw Lens for DK8155Z, DU8053Z, DU8055Z, DU8057Z

Vivitek Original Lens D89-WZ01 Wide Zoom is an original optical accessory for Vivitek professional projectors. It is a standard-throw lens (Standard Throw) with a 1.05-1.41:1 throw ratio and is designed for inch panels in the DU/DW/DX Engineering Series. The factory compatibility list covers 4 models; before installation, simply verify the projector model and panel size—no adapter rings are needed as a workaround. The value of an original lens lies not in the extra numbers in its specification sheet, but in the fact that it is calibrated at the factory to the optical path and mount of the projectors in that series. Once installed, the image circle, edge illumination, and focus travel are all at their design values, so there is no need to use keystone correction to compensate for image quality.

The above specifications are subject to the original manufacturer's specifications. Mechanical dimensions, flange distance, and mount type are not shown in the table; please provide your projector model so our team can verify them. Ordering based solely on a similar model carries the risk that the lens will not fit.

2. Converting Throw Ratio to Installation Distance

The throw ratio is the ratio of the installation distance to the image width. This original lens is a zoom lens (1.05-1.41:1), so each image size corresponds to a range of installation distances; it can focus at any point within that range.

Image SizeImage WidthRequired Installation Distance
100 inches2.15 mApprox. 2.26 – 3.03 m
120 inches2.58 mApprox. 2.71 – 3.64 m
150 inches3.22 mApprox. 3.39 – 4.55 m
200 inches4.30 mApprox. 4.51 – 6.06 m

The above represents the clear distance from the lens front face to the screen, excluding space at the rear of the projector for ventilation and cable connections. The figures are based on a 16:10 image; actual distances should be confirmed by on-site measurement and in accordance with the original manufacturer's manual.

Image quality differs at the two ends of the zoom range: toward the short-throw end, the image is brighter and the edges are slightly softer; toward the long-throw end, the edges are sharper and the brightness is slightly lower. If site conditions allow, the middle of the range is recommended. After installation, first find the sharpest setting on the focus ring, then fine-tune the shift.

3. Compatible Projector Models (4 Models)

The following table is taken from the original manufacturer's compatibility list. Brightness and resolution are populated from the model database; where data is unavailable, the table shows “—” rather than estimates.

ModelBrightnessResolution

DU8053Z14000 lumensWUXGA,1920 x 1200
DU8055Z16000 lumensWUXGA,1920 x 1200
DU8057Z23,750WUXGA,1920 x 1200

To check whether a model not on the list is compatible, please send us photos of the projector nameplate and the existing lens for verification. Mounts are often shared across platforms of the same generation, but ordering based on a similar model is not worth the risk.

Throw Ratio by Model Series

The rated throw ratio varies by series when the same D89-WZ01 Wide Zoom is installed. For selection, use the value for the series of the projector you actually have.

4. Three Checks Before Replacement

  • The panel size must match. D89-WZ01 Wide Zoom is designed for DU/DW/DX Engineering Series panels (inches). On projectors with a different panel size or resolution, the image circle and edge illumination will be compromised even if the lens fits the mount.
  • Calculate the installation distance first. This lens has a rated throw ratio of 1.05-1.41:1. Use the table in Section 2 to calculate the distance for your site dimensions. A fixed-focal-length lens provides no adjustment margin, while a zoom lens should also leave 10–20 cm at both ends of the range.
  • Verify the mount and locking mechanism. The original lens is calibrated to the mount used on projectors in this series. After installation, you must hear the lock click into place. A skewed image or soft edges are usually caused by an incompletely engaged lock, not by a problem with the lens itself.

If you are unsure, send us one photo each of the projector nameplate and the nameplate on the existing lens. Verification against the actual hardware is the most reliable approach.
