Appotronics ML100MA Standard Zoom Lens: MK650A, MK750A Compatibility

Appotronics Genuine Lens ML100MA Standard Zoom is an original optical accessory for Appotronics engineering projectors, designed for a standard throw (Standard Throw) with a 1.00-1.60:1 throw ratio. The factory compatibility list covers 2 projector models; before installation, simply verify the projector model and panel size, with no need to resort to adapter rings. The value of a genuine lens lies not in the extra rows of figures in the specification sheet, but in the fact that its optical path and mount are calibrated to that projector series at the factory: once installed, the image circle, edge illumination, and focusing travel all meet their design values, eliminating the need to use keystone correction to compensate for image quality.

I. Lens Specifications

The above specifications are subject to the manufacturer's official specifications. For mechanical dimensions, flange distance, and mount type not listed in the specifications, please verify them with us based on the projector model. Ordering solely because the model numbers are similar carries the risk that the lens will not fit.

II. Calculating Installation Distance from Throw Ratio

The throw ratio is the ratio of installation distance to image width. This genuine lens is a zoom lens (1.00-1.60:1), so each image size corresponds to a range of installation distances, and the lens can focus anywhere within that range.

Image SizeImage WidthRequired Installation Distance
100 inches2.15 mApprox. 2.15 – 3.44 m
120 inches2.58 mApprox. 2.58 – 4.13 m
150 inches3.22 mApprox. 3.22 – 5.16 m
200 inches4.30 mApprox. 4.30 – 6.88 m

The distances above are clear distances from the front of the lens to the screen and do not account for ventilation and wiring space at the rear of the projector. They are calculated for a 16:10 image; actual distances should be verified by on-site measurement and are subject to the manufacturer's manual.

Image quality varies at the two ends of the zoom range: near the short-throw end, the image is brighter and the edges are slightly softer; near the long-throw end, the edges are sharper and brightness decreases slightly. Where the venue allows, it is recommended to position the lens near the middle of the range. After installation, first find the sharpest position using the focus ring, then fine-tune the lens shift.

III. Compatible Models (2 Projectors)

The table below is taken from the manufacturer's compatibility list. Brightness and resolution values are taken from the model database; where the data is unavailable, they are marked “—” rather than estimated.

For models not included in the list, please send us photos of the projector nameplate and the existing lens so we can verify compatibility. Projector platforms from the same generation often share the same mount, but the risks of ordering based solely on a similar model number are not worth taking.

Throw Ratios by Projector Series

The rated throw ratio varies by projector series when the same ML100MA Standard Zoom is installed. Select the value corresponding to the series of the projector in use.

IV. Three Checks Before Replacement

  • Confirm the projector imaging chip and resolution. Genuine lenses are designed for specific panel sizes. If the panel specifications differ, the image circle cannot cover the full image, resulting in vignetting or edge light loss after installation.
  • Calculate the installation distance first. With a rated throw ratio of 1.00-1.60:1, use the table in Section II to calculate the distance for your venue. A fixed-focus lens provides no adjustment margin, and even a zoom lens requires a 10–20 cm margin at both ends.
  • Verify the mount and locking mechanism. Genuine lenses are calibrated to the mount of the relevant projector series. After installation, you must hear the lens click into the locked position. A skewed image or soft edges are usually caused by incomplete locking rather than a fault in the lens itself.

If you are unsure, photograph both the projector nameplate and the nameplate on the existing lens, then send the photos to us. Verification against the actual hardware is the safest approach.
