NEC original NP38ZL Zoom long throw lens, throw ratio 2.90-5.50:1, compatible with 8 NEC projectors including PX602UL-B-35, PX602UL-BK, PX602UL-W-35, PX602UL-WH. Authorized channel, bulk project orders welcome.

NEC NP38ZL Zoom Original Lens is NEC's factory-supplied optical accessory for NEC professional projectors. It is a long-throw lens with a 2.90-5.50:1 throw ratio. The factory compatibility list covers 8 models. Before installation, simply verify the projector model and panel size; no adapter ring is needed. The value of an original lens lies not in the additional figures in a specification sheet, but in the fact that it is calibrated at the factory to the optical path and lens mount of that projector series. Once installed, image-circle coverage, edge illumination, and focus travel all meet the design specifications, eliminating the need to use keystone correction to compensate for image quality.

1. Lens Specifications
| Brand | NEC (NEC) |
| Lens Model | NP38ZL Zoom |
| Throw Ratio | 2.90-5.50:1 |
| Product Type | Long Throw |
| Compatible Models | 8 models |
| Warranty | 12 months; after-sales service applies to damage not caused by the user, subject to the date on the shipping invoice |
These specifications are subject to the original manufacturer's specifications. For mechanical dimensions, flange distance, and mount type not shown in the specifications table, please contact us with the projector model. Placing an order solely because the model numbers are similar carries the risk that the lens will not fit.
2. Converting Throw Ratio into Installation Distance
The throw ratio is the ratio of the installation distance to the image width. This original lens is a zoom lens (2.90-5.50:1), so a given image size corresponds to a range of installation distances. The lens can be focused at any distance within that range.
| Image Size | Image Width | Required Installation Distance |
|---|---|---|
| 100 inches | 2.15 m | approx. 6.23 – 11.82 m |
| 120 inches | 2.58 m | approx. 7.48 – 14.19 m |
| 150 inches | 3.22 m | approx. 9.35 – 17.74 m |
| 200 inches | 4.30 m | approx. 12.47 – 23.65 m |
The distances above are clear measurements from the front surface of the lens to the screen and do not allow for rear ventilation and cable connections. They are calculated for a 16:10 image; actual distances should be verified on site and against the manufacturer's manual.
Image quality varies between the two ends of the zoom range. Toward the short end, the image is brighter and the edges are slightly softer; toward the long end, the edges are sharper and brightness decreases slightly. When the venue allows it, use the middle of the range. After installation, first find the sharpest setting on the focus ring, then fine-tune the lens shift.
3. Compatible Models (8 Models)
The following table is taken from the factory compatibility list. Brightness and resolution are populated from the model database; unavailable specifications are shown as “—” without estimation.
| Model | Brightness | Resolution |
|---|---|---|
| PX602UL-B-35 | 6000 lumens | 1920x1200 |
| PX602UL-BK | 6000 lumens | 1920x1200 |
| PX602UL-W-35 | 6000 lumens | 1920x1200 |
| PX602UL-WH | 6000 lumens | 1920x1200 |
| PX602WL-B-36 | 6000 lumens | 1280x800 |
| PX602WL-BK | 6000 lumens | 1280x800 |
| PX602WL-W-36 | 6000 lumens | 1280x800 |
| PX602WL-WH | 6000 lumens | 1280x800 |
To determine whether a model outside this list is supported, send us photos of the projector's nameplate and the current lens. Platforms from the same generation often share the same mount, but the risks of ordering based on a similar model number outweigh the convenience.
Throw Ratio by Projector Series
When the same NP38ZL Zoom is used with the following series, the rated throw ratios differ. Select the value based on the series of the projector in use.
| Model Series | Throw Ratio |
|---|---|
| — | 2.90-5.50:1 |
4. Three Checks Before Replacement
- Confirm the projector's imaging panel and resolution. Each original lens is designed for a specific panel size. If the panel specifications differ, the image circle cannot cover the panel, resulting in vignetting or light loss at the edges after installation.
- Calculate the installation distance first. This lens has a rated throw ratio of 2.90-5.50:1. Use the table in Section 2 to calculate the distance for your venue. A fixed-focus lens offers no adjustment margin, while a zoom lens also requires 10–20 cm of extra space at both ends of the range.
- Verify the mount and locking mechanism. The original lens is calibrated to the lens mount of that projector series. You must hear it click into the locked position after installation. A skewed image or soft edges are usually caused by incomplete locking rather than a defect in the lens itself.
If you are unsure, send us one photo each of the projector nameplate and the nameplate on the existing lens. Verification against the actual hardware is the safest approach.
