Christie Genuine Lens 140-109101-XX Zoom is an OEM optical accessory for Christie engineering projectors. It is a standard-throw lens (Standard Throw) with a throw ratio of 1.20-1.50:1. The OEM compatibility list covers 20 projector models; before installation, simply verify the projector model and panel size, with no need to improvise using adapter rings. The value of an OEM lens lies not in a few extra figures in the specifications, but in the fact that it is calibrated at the factory to the optical path and mount of the relevant projector series. Once installed, the image circle, edge illumination, and focus travel are all at their design values, eliminating the need to compensate for image quality with keystone correction.

For mechanical dimensions, flange distance, and mount type not listed in the table, please contact us with your projector model for verification. Ordering based solely on a similar model carries the risk that the lens will not fit.

2. Calculating Installation Distance from Throw Ratio

The throw ratio is the ratio of installation distance to image width. This genuine zoom lens (1.20-1.50:1) provides a range of installation distances for any given image size, and can be brought into focus anywhere within that range.

Image SizeImage WidthRequired Installation Distance
100 inches2.15 mapprox. 2.58 – 3.22 m
120 inches2.58 mapprox. 3.10 – 3.87 m
150 inches3.22 mapprox. 3.87 – 4.84 m
200 inches4.30 mapprox. 5.16 – 6.45 m

The above distances are the clear measurements from the front surface of the lens to the screen and do not include space behind the projector for cooling or cable connections. These figures are calculated for a 16:10 image; actual values should be verified through on-site measurements and the manufacturer's manual.

Image quality differs at the two ends of the zoom range: near the close end, the image is brighter and the edges are slightly softer; near the far end, the edges are sharper and brightness is slightly lower. Where the venue allows, the middle of the range is recommended. After installation, first find the sharpest position on the focus ring, then fine-tune the lens shift.

For compatibility with a model not on the list, please send us photos of the projector nameplate and the existing lens for verification—platforms from the same generation often share the same mount, but ordering based on a similar model is not worth the risk.

Throw Ratio by Model Series

The specified throw ratio differs when the same 140-109101-XX Zoom is used with the following series, so select the value based on the series of the actual projector.

—1.20-1.50:1

4. Three Checks Before Replacement

  • Confirm the projector's chip and resolution. The OEM lens is designed for a specific panel size. If the panel specifications differ, the image circle will not cover the full panel, resulting in vignetting or edge light loss after installation.
  • Calculate the installation distance first. This lens has a rated throw ratio of 1.20-1.50:1; use the table in Section 2 to match it to your venue's dimensions. A fixed-focus lens provides no adjustment margin, and even a zoom lens requires 10–20 cm at both ends of the range.
  • Verify the mount and locking mechanism. The OEM lens is calibrated to the mount of that projector series and must audibly lock into place after installation. A skewed image or soft edges is usually caused by incomplete locking, not a problem with the lens itself.

If you are unsure, take one photo each of the projector nameplate and the existing lens nameplate and send them to us. Verification against the actual hardware is the most reliable option.
