Optoma BX-DL300 Zoom Long-Throw Lens Guide: 14 Compatible Models

Optoma Genuine Lens BX-DL300 Zoom is an OEM optical accessory for Optoma business projectors. It is a long-throw (Long Throw) lens with a throw ratio of 1.93-2.89:1. The OEM compatibility list covers 14 models. Before installation, simply verify the projector model and panel size—no need to make do with an adapter ring. The value of an OEM lens lies not in the extra rows of figures in the specification sheet, but in the fact that its optical path and mount are calibrated to the relevant projector series at the factory: once mounted, the image circle, edge illumination, and focusing range all meet their design values, so there is no need to use keystone correction to compensate for image quality.

The above specifications are subject to the OEM specifications. For mechanical dimensions, flange distance, and mount type not shown in the specifications table, please verify them with us based on your projector model; ordering directly based on a similar model carries the risk of a lens that will not fit.

II. Calculating Installation Distance from Throw Ratio

The throw ratio is the ratio of the installation distance to the image width. This OEM lens is a zoom lens (1.93-2.89:1), so each image size corresponds to a range of installation distances, and the lens can be focused at any position within that range.

Image SizeImage WidthRequired Installation Distance
100 inches2.15 mApprox. 4.15 – 6.21 m
120 inches2.58 mApprox. 4.98 – 7.46 m
150 inches3.22 mApprox. 6.22 – 9.32 m
200 inches4.30 mApprox. 8.30 – 12.43 m

The values above represent the clear distance from the front surface of the lens to the screen and do not include space for the projector's rear cooling and cable connections. They are calculated for a 16:10 image; actual values depend on on-site measurements and the manufacturer's manual.

Image quality differs at the two ends of the zoom range: near the short end, the image is brighter and the edges are slightly softer; near the long end, the edges are more defined and brightness is slightly lower. Where the venue permits, use the middle of the range. After installation, first find the sharpest setting on the focus ring, then fine-tune the lens shift.

III. Compatible Models (14 Models)

The table below is taken from the OEM compatibility list. Brightness and resolution are populated from the model database; where the data is unavailable, it is marked as "—" without making assumptions.

To verify whether a model not on the list is compatible, please send us photos of the projector nameplate and the existing lens. Projectors from the same generation often share the same mount, but it is not worth the risk of ordering solely because the model names look similar.

Throw Ratio by Projector Series

The rated throw ratio differs by series when the same BX-DL300 Zoom is installed on the models below, so select the value for the series of your actual projector.

IV. Three Checks Before Replacement

  • Confirm the projector imaging chip and resolution. OEM lenses are designed for a specific panel size. If the panel specifications differ, the image circle cannot cover the panel, resulting in vignetting or light loss at the edges.
  • Calculate the installation distance first. This lens has a rated throw ratio of 1.93-2.89:1. Use the table in Section II to calculate the distance for your venue. A fixed-focus lens offers no adjustment margin, and even a zoom lens needs 10–20 cm of clearance at both ends of the range.
  • Check the mount and locking mechanism. The OEM lens is calibrated to the mount of the relevant projector series. You must hear it lock into place after installation. A skewed image or soft edges are usually caused by incomplete locking, rather than a problem with the lens itself.

If you are unsure, take one photo of the projector nameplate and one photo of the existing lens nameplate and send them to us. Verification against the actual equipment is the safest approach.
