Barco R9832744 Zoom long-throw lens, 2.17-2.90:1 throw ratio, fits 3 Barco projector models: MSWU-81E, RLM-W6 and RLM-W8. Genuine supply for bulk project orders.

Barco Original Lens R9832744 Zoom is an original optical accessory for Barco professional projectors. It is a long-throw (Long Throw) lens with a 2.17-2.90:1 throw ratio. The manufacturer's compatibility list covers 3 projector models. Before installation, simply verify the projector model and panel size; no adapter rings are needed. The value of an original lens lies not in the extra figures in its specification sheet, but in the fact that it is factory-calibrated to the optical path and lens mount of that projector series. Once installed, the image circle, edge illumination, and focusing travel all meet the design specifications, so there is no need to compensate for image quality with keystone correction.

1. Lens Specifications

The above specifications are subject to the manufacturer's specifications. For mechanical dimensions, flange distance, and mount type not shown in the specification table, please contact us with the projector model. Ordering solely on the basis of a similar model carries the risk of incompatibility.
2. Calculating Installation Distance from Throw Ratio
The throw ratio is the ratio of the installation distance to the image width. This original zoom lens (2.17-2.90:1) covers a range of distances for a given image size and can focus at any distance within that range.
| Image Size | Image Width | Required Installation Distance |
|---|---|---|
| 100 inches | 2.15 m | Approx. 4.67 – 6.23 m |
| 120 inches | 2.58 m | Approx. 5.60 – 7.48 m |
| 150 inches | 3.22 m | Approx. 7.00 – 9.35 m |
| 200 inches | 4.30 m | Approx. 9.33 – 12.47 m |
The distances above are clear distances from the front surface of the lens to the screen and do not account for ventilation or cable-management space at the rear of the projector. These figures are calculated for a 16:10 image; actual distances are subject to on-site measurement and the manufacturer's manual.
Image performance differs at the two ends of the zoom range: the image is brighter and the edges slightly softer near the short end, while the edges are sharper and brightness is slightly lower near the long end. Where venue conditions allow, the middle of the range is recommended. After installation, find the sharpest position using the focus ring, then fine-tune the lens shift.
3. Compatible Models (3 Projectors)
The table below is taken from the manufacturer's compatibility list. Brightness and resolution have been populated from the model database; values that could not be obtained are shown as — and have not been estimated.
| Model | Brightness | Resolution |
|---|---|---|
| MSWU-81E | 8300 lumens | 1920x1200 |
| RLM-W6 | 6000 lumens | 1920x1200 |
| RLM-W8 | 8000 lumens | 1920x1200 |
To determine whether a model not on the list is compatible, please send us photos of the projector nameplate and the current lens. Platforms of the same generation often share the same mount, but it is not worth taking the risk of ordering based on a similar model.
Throw Ratios by Projector Series
The nominal throw ratio differs when the same R9832744 Zoom is installed on the following series, so select the value according to the series of the actual projector.
| Projector Series | Throw Ratio |
|---|---|
| — | 2.17-2.90:1 |
4. Three Checks Before Replacement
- Confirm the projector's imaging chip and resolution. Original lenses are designed for a specific panel size. If the panel specifications differ, the image circle cannot cover the full image, resulting in vignetting or light loss at the edges.
- Calculate the installation distance first. This lens has a rated throw ratio of 2.17-2.90:1. Use the table in Section 2 to calculate the distance for your venue dimensions. A fixed-focus lens offers no adjustment margin, and a zoom lens should also allow an additional 10–20 cm at both ends of the range.
- Check the mount and locking mechanism. The original lens is factory-calibrated to the mount of that projector series. After installation, you must hear the locking mechanism engage. A skewed image or soft edges are usually caused by an incompletely engaged lock, not by the lens itself.
If you are unsure, take one photo of the projector nameplate and one of the current lens nameplate, then send them to us. Verification against the actual units is the safest approach.
