Panasonic ET-EMT850 Long-Throw Lens for 19 Compatible Models

Panasonic Genuine ET-EMT850 Lens is an original optical accessory for Panasonic professional projectors. It is a long-throw (Long Throw) lens with a throw ratio of 4.14-7.40:1, designed for 1.0" 3LCD panels. The official compatibility list covers 19 models. Before installation, simply verify the projector model and panel size; there is no need to make do with adapter rings. The value of an original lens lies not in the extra figures on a specification sheet, but in the fact that it is factory-calibrated to the optical path and mount of the relevant projector series. Once installed, the image circle, edge illumination, and focusing travel are all at their design values, so there is no need to use keystone correction to compensate for image quality.

Placing an order based solely on a similar model carries the risk that the lens will not fit.

II. Converting Throw Ratio to Installation Distance

The throw ratio is the ratio of the installation distance to the image width. This genuine lens has a zoom range of 4.14-7.40:1. For a given image size, it supports a range of installation distances and can focus at any distance within that range.

Image SizeImage WidthRequired Installation Distance
100 inches2.15 mApprox. 8.90 – 15.91 m
120 inches2.58 mApprox. 10.68 – 19.09 m
150 inches3.22 mApprox. 13.35 – 23.86 m
200 inches4.30 mApprox. 17.80 – 31.82 m

These figures represent the clear distance from the front of the lens to the screen and do not include space required for rear cooling and cabling. They are calculated for a 16:10 image; actual values must be verified through on-site measurements and in accordance with the manufacturer's manual.

Image quality differs at the two ends of the zoom range: near the short-throw end, the image is brighter and the edges are slightly softer; near the long-throw end, the edges are sharper and brightness decreases slightly. Where the venue allows, use the middle of the range. After installation, find the sharpest position using the focus ring, then fine-tune the lens shift.

To check whether a model not listed can be used, send us photos of the projector nameplate and the current lens for verification. Projectors based on the same-generation platform often share the same mount, but the risk of ordering based on a similar model is not worth taking.

Throw Ratio by Projector Series

The rated throw ratio of the same ET-EMT850 varies among the following projector series. Select the value based on the series of the projector in use.

Model SeriesThrow Ratio
—4.14-7.40:1

IV. Three Checks Before Replacement

  • The panel size must match. ET-EMT850 is designed for 1.0" 3LCD panels. Even if the mount fits, a projector with a different panel size or resolution may exhibit problems with the image circle and edge illumination.
  • Calculate the installation distance first. This lens has a rated throw ratio of 4.14-7.40:1. Use the table in Section 2 to calculate the distance for your venue. A fixed-focus lens offers no adjustment margin, while a zoom lens should also allow an additional 10–20 cm at both ends.
  • Verify the mount and locking mechanism. The original lens is calibrated to the mount of the relevant projector series. After installation, you must hear the locking mechanism engage fully. A skewed image or soft edges are usually caused by incomplete locking, not by a fault of the lens itself.

If you are unsure, take one photo of the projector nameplate and one of the current lens nameplate and send them to us. Verification against the actual hardware is the safest approach.
