Appotronics X1.7 Zoom Long-Throw Lens for AL-FH10KA, AL-FH850A, AL-FX10KA

Appotronics Genuine Lens X1.7 Zoom is a factory optical accessory for Appotronics engineering projectors. It is a long-throw (Long Throw) lens with a throw ratio of 1.62-2.92:1. The factory compatibility list covers 3 models. Before installation, simply verify the projector model and panel size; there is no need to make do with adapter rings. The value of a genuine lens lies not in the extra rows of specifications, but in the fact that it is calibrated at the factory to the optical path and lens mount of that projector series. Once installed, the image circle, edge illumination, and focus travel all operate at their design values, so there is no need to compensate for image quality with keystone correction.

The above specifications are subject to the factory specifications. For mechanical dimensions, flange distance, and lens mount type not listed in the specifications table, please contact us with your projector model for verification. Ordering directly based on a similar model carries the risk that the lens will not fit.

II. Calculating Installation Distance from Throw Ratio

The throw ratio is the ratio of the installation distance to the image width. This genuine lens is a zoom lens (1.62-2.92:1), so a given image size corresponds to a range of installation distances. Any distance within that range can be properly focused.

Image SizeImage WidthRequired Installation Distance
100 inches2.15 mApprox. 3.48 – 6.28 m
120 inches2.58 mApprox. 4.18 – 7.53 m
150 inches3.22 mApprox. 5.22 – 9.42 m
200 inches4.30 mApprox. 6.97 – 12.56 m

These figures represent the clear distance from the front surface of the lens to the projection screen and do not include space for rear chassis cooling or cable connections. For a 16:10 image, actual distances should be based on on-site measurements and the factory manual.

Image quality differs at the two ends of the zoom range. Near the close end, the image is brighter and the edges are slightly softer; near the far end, the edges are sharper and brightness decreases slightly. When the venue allows, the middle of the range is recommended. After installation, turn the focus ring to the sharpest position first, then fine-tune the shift.

III. Compatible Projector Models (3 models)

The following table is taken from the factory compatibility list. Brightness and resolution are populated from the model database; unavailable values are shown as “—” rather than estimated.

ModelBrightnessResolution

AL-FH850A——
AL-FX10KA——

To determine whether a model outside the list is supported, please send us a photo of the projector nameplate and the existing lens for verification. Projector platforms of the same generation often share the same lens mount, but ordering based only on a similar model carries unnecessary risk.

Throw Ratios for Different Model Series

Even when the same X1.7 Zoom is installed, the nominal throw ratio varies by model series. Select the value according to the series of the actual projector.

IV. Three Checks Before Replacement

  • Check the projector chip and resolution. Genuine lenses are designed for specific panel sizes. If the panel specifications differ, the image circle cannot provide full coverage, resulting in vignetting or edge light loss.
  • Calculate the installation distance first. This lens has a nominal throw ratio of 1.62-2.92:1. Use the table in Section II to match the dimensions of your venue. A fixed-focus lens offers no adjustment margin, and even a zoom lens needs 10–20 cm of clearance at both ends of the range.
  • Verify the lens mount and locking mechanism. Genuine lenses are calibrated to the lens mount of the corresponding projector series. After installation, you must hear the lens click into the locked position. Image misalignment and soft edges are usually caused by incomplete locking rather than a problem with the lens itself.

If you are unsure, send us one photo each of the projector nameplate and the existing lens nameplate. Verification against the actual products is the most reliable approach.
