Panasonic ET-ELW21 Short-Throw Lens for 14 Compatible Models

Panasonic genuine lens ET-ELW21 is an OEM optical accessory for Panasonic engineering projectors. It is a short-throw (Short Throw) lens with a fixed throw ratio of 0.764:1 (fixed throw) for 0.76" 3LCD panels. The OEM compatibility list covers 14 models. Before installation, simply verify the projector model and panel size; there is no need to improvise with an adapter ring. The value of an OEM lens lies not in the extra rows of numbers on the specification sheet, but in the fact that it is calibrated at the factory to the optical path and mount of that projector series: once installed, the image circle, edge illumination, and focusing travel are all at their design values, so there is no need to use keystone correction to compensate for image quality.

These specifications are subject to the OEM specifications. For mechanical dimensions, flange distance, and mount type not shown in the specifications table, please verify them with us based on the projector model. Placing an order solely on the basis of a similar model carries the risk that the lens will not fit.

II. Calculating Installation Distance from Throw Ratio

The throw ratio is the ratio of the installation distance to the image width. This OEM lens has a fixed throw ratio (0.764:1 (fixed throw)), so the installation distance varies linearly with image size, with no adjustment margin. Accurate measurements are essential before installation.

Image SizeImage WidthRequired Installation Distance
100 inches2.15 mapprox. 1.64 m
120 inches2.58 mapprox. 1.97 m
150 inches3.22 mapprox. 2.46 m
200 inches4.30 mapprox. 3.29 m

These figures represent the clear distance from the front surface of the lens to the projection screen and do not account for rear housing ventilation or cable connection space. The values are calculated for a 16:10 image; on-site measurements and the OEM manual take precedence.

III. Compatible Models (14 Models)

The following table is taken from the OEM compatibility list. Brightness and resolution are populated from the model database; an em dash (—) indicates unavailable data, with no assumptions made.

For models not included in the list, send us photos of the projector nameplate and the existing lens so we can verify compatibility—platforms of the same generation often share a mount, but the risks of ordering solely because the model numbers are similar are not worth taking.

Throw Ratio by Projector Series

The specified throw ratio varies by series even when the same ET-ELW21 lens is installed, so select the value for the series of the actual projector.

IV. Three Checks Before Replacement

  • The panel size must match. ET-ELW21 is designed for 0.76" 3LCD panels. Even if the lens physically fits, a projector with a different panel size or resolution may experience problems with the image circle and edge illumination.
  • Calculate the installation distance first. This lens has a nominal throw ratio of 0.764:1 (fixed throw). Use the table in Section II to calculate the distance for your site dimensions. Fixed-throw lenses have no adjustment margin; even for zoom lenses, allow an additional 10–20 cm at both ends.
  • Check the mount and locking mechanism. The OEM lens is calibrated to the mount used on that projector series, and you must hear it lock into place after installation. Image skew and soft edges are usually caused by incomplete locking, not by a defect in the lens itself.

If you are unsure, send us one photo each of the projector nameplate and the existing lens nameplate. Verification against the actual hardware is the safest approach.
