Optoma BX-DLTZ2 Ultra Long Zoom Lens Review: Compatible with PRO8000 and TH7500-NL

Nov 04, 2026, 20:29:06 UTC

Optoma OEM Lens BX-DLTZ2 Ultra Long Zoom is an OEM optical accessory for Optoma professional projectors. It is a long-throw (Long Throw) lens with a throw ratio of 3.68-7.04:1. The official model compatibility list covers 2 models. Before installation, simply verify the projector model and panel size; there is no need to improvise with an adapter ring. The value of an OEM lens lies not in extra rows of specifications, but in the fact that it is calibrated at the factory to the optical path and mount of that model series. Once installed, image-circle coverage, edge illumination, and focusing travel all meet the design specifications, eliminating the need for keystone correction to compensate for image quality.

These specifications are subject to the manufacturer's official specifications. For mechanical dimensions, flange distance, and mount type not shown in the specifications table, please contact us with the projector model. Ordering solely based on a similar model number carries the risk of a fitment issue.

II. Converting Throw Ratio into Installation Distance

The throw ratio is the ratio of the installation distance to the image width. This OEM lens is a zoom lens (3.68-7.04:1), so the same image size corresponds to a range of installation distances. It can focus at any position within this range.

Image SizeImage WidthRequired Installation Distance
100 inches2.15 mapprox. 7.91 – 15.14 m
120 inches2.58 mapprox. 9.49 – 18.16 m
150 inches3.22 mapprox. 11.87 – 22.70 m
200 inches4.30 mapprox. 15.82 – 30.27 m

These figures represent the clear distance from the front surface of the lens to the screen and do not include space for rear cooling and cable connections. They are calculated for a 16:10 image; actual values should be verified through on-site measurements and the manufacturer's manual.

Image quality varies at the two ends of the zoom range: at the wide end, the image is brighter and the edges are slightly softer; at the tele end, the edges are sharper and brightness decreases slightly. If site conditions allow, use the middle of the range. After installation, find the sharpest position on the focus ring, then fine-tune the lens shift.

III. Compatible Projector Models (2 Models)

The following table is taken from the manufacturer's model compatibility list. Brightness and resolution are populated from the model database; unavailable values are shown as "—", and no assumptions are made.

ModelBrightnessResolution
PRO80005800 lumens1920x1200
TH7500-NL6000 lumens1920x1200

To check whether a model outside this list is compatible, send us photos of the projector nameplate and existing lens. Platforms from the same generation often share the same mount, but the fitment risk of ordering solely based on a similar model number is not worth taking.

Throw Ratios by Projector Series

The specified throw ratio varies when the same BX-DLTZ2 Ultra Long Zoom is installed on the series listed below. Select the value that applies to the actual projector series.

IV. Three Checks Before Replacement

  • Confirm the projector imaging chip and resolution.OEM lenses are designed for a specific panel size. If the panel specifications differ, the image circle cannot cover the full image, resulting in vignetting or light loss at the edges.
  • Calculate the installation distance first. This lens has a rated throw ratio of 3.68-7.04:1. Use the table in Section II to calculate the distance for your site dimensions. A fixed-focus lens offers no adjustment margin, and even a zoom lens should have 10–20 cm of margin at both ends.
  • Verify the mount and locking mechanism.OEM lenses are calibrated to the mount of that model series, and you must hear the lens click fully into the locked position after installation. A skewed image or soft edges usually indicate that the lens is not fully locked, rather than a problem with the lens itself.

If you are uncertain, send us one photo each of the projector nameplate and existing lens nameplate. Verification against the actual hardware is the most reliable approach.
