NEC OEM Lens NP46ZL Zoom is an OEM optical accessory for NEC engineering projectors, with a standard throw ratio of 1.20-1.56:1. The OEM compatibility list covers 4 models; before installation, simply check the projector model and panel size—no need to improvise with adapter rings. The value of an OEM lens lies not in the extra numbers on a specification sheet, but in the fact that it is calibrated at the factory to the optical path and mount of that projector series: once installed, the image circle, edge illumination, and focusing travel are all at their design values, so there is no need to compensate for image quality with keystone correction.

1. Lens Specifications
| Brand | NEC (NEC) |
| Lens Model | NP46ZL Zoom |
| Throw Ratio | 1.20-1.56:1 |
| Product Type | Standard throw (Standard Throw) |
| Compatible Models | 4 models |
| Warranty | 12 months; after-sales service is available for damage not caused by the user, based on the invoice date |
The above specifications follow the manufacturer's official specifications. For mechanical dimensions, flange distance, and mount type not shown in the specifications table, please check with us and provide the projector model. Placing an order based solely on a similar model carries the risk that the lens will not fit.
2. Calculating Installation Distance from Throw Ratio
The throw ratio is the ratio of installation distance to image width. This OEM lens is a zoom lens (1.20-1.56:1), so a given image size corresponds to a range of distances; it can be focused anywhere within that range.
| Image Size | Image Width | Required Installation Distance |
|---|---|---|
| 100 inches | 2.15 m | approx. 2.58 – 3.35 m |
| 120 inches | 2.58 m | approx. 3.10 – 4.02 m |
| 150 inches | 3.22 m | approx. 3.87 – 5.03 m |
| 200 inches | 4.30 m | approx. 5.16 – 6.71 m |
The distances above are net distances from the front surface of the lens to the screen and do not include the space required for rear projector ventilation and cable connections. They are calculated for a 16:10 image; in practice, rely on on-site measurements and the manufacturer's manual.
Image quality differs at the two ends of the zoom range: near the short end, the image is brighter and the edges are slightly less sharp; near the long end, the edges are sharper and brightness drops slightly. If the venue allows, we recommend choosing a zoom setting near the middle of the range. After installation, first find the sharpest image position on the focus ring, then fine-tune the lens shift.
3. Compatible Models (4 Models)
The table below is taken from the manufacturer's compatibility list. Brightness and resolution are populated from the model database; unavailable data is shown as — rather than estimated.
| Model | Brightness | Resolution |
|---|---|---|
| PX2000UL | 19000 lumens | 1920x1200 |
| PX2000UL-47ZL | 19000 lumens | 1920x1200 |
| PX2201UL | 20500 lumens | 1920x1200 |
| PX2201UL-48ZL | 20500 lumens | 1920x1200 |
For models not on the list, please send us photos of the projector nameplate and the existing lens so we can verify compatibility—same-generation platforms often share the same mount, but the risk of ordering based on a similar model is not worth taking.
Throw Ratio by Projector Series
The same NP46ZL Zoom has different nominal throw ratios when used with the following series. Choose the value based on the series of the actual projector.
| Projector Series | Throw Ratio |
|---|---|
| — | 1.20-1.56:1 |
4. Three Checks Before Replacement
- Confirm the projector's imaging panel and resolution.OEM lenses are designed for a specific panel size. If the panel specifications differ, the image circle cannot cover the full image, resulting in vignetting or light loss at the edges.
- Calculate the installation distance first. This lens has a nominal throw ratio of 1.20-1.56:1; use the table in Section 2 to match the dimensions of your venue. Fixed-focus lenses offer no adjustment margin, and even a zoom lens should leave 10–20 cm of margin at both ends.
- Verify the mount and locking mechanism. The OEM lens is calibrated to the mount of that projector series, and you must hear the lock engage after installation. A skewed image or soft edges are usually caused by the lens not being fully locked, rather than a problem with the lens itself.
If you are unsure, take one photo of the projector nameplate and one of the existing lens nameplate and send them to us. Verifying the actual hardware is the most reliable approach.
