NEC OEM Lens NP48ZL Zoom is a factory-supplied optical accessory for NEC professional projectors. It is a Long Throw lens with a 2.00-4.00:1 throw ratio. The official model compatibility list covers 4 projector models; simply verify the projector model and panel size before installation, with no need for an adapter-ring workaround. The value of an OEM lens lies not in the additional numbers in the specification table, but in the fact that it is factory-calibrated to the optical path and lens mount of that projector series. Once installed, the image circle, edge illumination, and focus travel all meet their design values, eliminating the need to use keystone correction to compensate for image quality.

The above specifications are subject to the original manufacturer's specifications. For mechanical dimensions, flange distance, and mount type not shown in the table, please contact us with the projector model. Ordering based solely on a similar model carries the risk that the lens will not fit.

2. Installation Distance by Throw Ratio

The throw ratio is the ratio of the installation distance to the image width. This OEM lens is a zoom lens (2.00-4.00:1), so each image size corresponds to a range of installation distances, and the lens can focus anywhere within that range.

Image SizeImage WidthRequired Installation Distance
100 inches2.15 mapprox. 4.30 – 8.60 m
120 inches2.58 mapprox. 5.16 – 10.32 m
150 inches3.22 mapprox. 6.45 – 12.90 m
200 inches4.30 mapprox. 8.60 – 17.20 m

These figures represent the clear distance from the lens front surface to the screen and do not include space behind the projector for cooling or cabling. The calculations are based on a 16:10 image; actual distances should be verified on site and in accordance with the manufacturer's manual.

Image quality differs at the two ends of the zoom range: toward the short-throw end, the image is brighter and the edges are slightly softer; toward the long-throw end, the edges are sharper and brightness decreases slightly. Where the venue allows, it is recommended to use the middle of the range. After installation, first find the position with the sharpest image on the focus ring, then fine-tune the lens shift.

3. Compatible Projector Models (4 Models)

The table below is taken from the official model compatibility list. Brightness and resolution are populated from the model database; values that cannot be obtained are shown as "—" and are not estimated.

To check whether a model outside the list is compatible, send us photos of the projector nameplate and the existing lens. Platforms from the same generation often share a lens mount, but the risk of ordering based on a similar model name is not worth it.

Throw Ratio by Projector Series

The rated throw ratio of the same NP48ZL Zoom varies by projector series. When selecting a lens, use the value for the series of the projector in use.

4. Confirm These 3 Items Before Replacement

  • Confirm the projector's imaging chip and resolution.OEM lenses are designed for a specific panel size. If the panel specifications differ, the image circle cannot cover the full image, resulting in vignetting or light loss at the edges after installation.
  • Calculate the installation distance first. This lens has a rated throw ratio of 2.00-4.00:1. Use the table in Section 2 to calculate the distance for your installation site. A fixed-focus lens offers no adjustment margin, and even a zoom lens should leave 10–20 cm of extra room at both ends.
  • Verify the lens mount and locking mechanism. The OEM lens is calibrated to the lens mount of that projector series, and you must hear it click into the locked position after installation. A skewed image or soft edges are usually caused by incomplete locking, not by a problem with the lens itself.

If you are unsure, send us one photo each of the projector nameplate and the nameplate on the existing lens. Verification against the actual hardware is the safest approach.
