Vivitek LNS-5FX2 Wide Fixed Short-Throw Lens: Compatible with 9 Models

Nov 05, 2026, 07:21:03 UTC

Vivitek Original Lens LNS-5FX2 Wide Fixed is an OEM optical accessory for Vivitek engineering projectors. It is a short-throw lens (Short Throw) with a 0.78:1 throw ratio for DU/DW/DX Engineering Series panels. The official compatibility list covers 9 models. Before installation, simply verify the projector model and panel size—there is no need to improvise with adapter rings. The value of an original lens lies not in the extra figures in the specification table, but in the fact that it is calibrated at the factory to the optical path and mount of the projectors in that series: once installed, the image circle, edge illumination, and focusing travel are all at their design values, so there is no need to compensate for image quality with keystone correction.

These specifications are subject to the manufacturer's official specifications. For mechanical dimensions, flange distance, and mount type not shown in the table, please contact us with the projector model for verification. Ordering solely because the model numbers appear similar carries the risk that the lens will not fit.

II. Converting Throw Ratio into Installation Distance

The throw ratio is the ratio of the installation distance to the image width. This OEM lens has a fixed throw ratio (0.78:1), so the installation distance changes linearly with image size. There is no adjustment range, so measurements must be taken accurately before installation.

Image SizeImage WidthRequired Installation Distance
100 inches2.15 mapprox. 1.68 m
120 inches2.58 mapprox. 2.01 m
150 inches3.22 mapprox. 2.52 m
200 inches4.30 mapprox. 3.35 m

The above figures represent the clear distance from the front of the lens to the screen and do not include space for rear cooling and cable connections. They are calculated for a 16:10 image; actual values should be verified through on-site measurement and the manufacturer's manual.

III. Compatible Models (9 Models)

The following table is taken from the official compatibility list. Brightness and resolution are sourced from the model database; where the data is unavailable, “—” is shown rather than estimated.

For models not on the list, please send us photos of the projector nameplate and the existing lens for verification—platforms of the same generation often share a mount, but ordering based on a similar model is not worth the risk.

Throw Ratios for Different Model Series

The nominal throw ratio of the same LNS-5FX2 Wide Fixed varies among the series below when used with different models. Select the value according to the series of the projector in question.

IV. Three Checks Before Replacement

  • The panel size must match. LNS-5FX2 Wide Fixed is designed for DU/DW/DX Engineering Series panel sizes (inches). Even if the mount fits, projectors with different panel sizes or resolutions can experience problems with the image circle and edge illumination.
  • Calculate the installation distance first. This lens has a nominal throw ratio of 0.78:1; use the table in Section II to calculate the distance for your installation site. A fixed lens offers no adjustment range, and even a zoom lens should be allowed 10–20 cm of clearance at both ends.
  • Verify the mount and locking mechanism. The OEM lens is calibrated to the mount of projectors in this series, and you must hear it lock into place after installation. A skewed image or blurred edges usually means it is not fully locked, rather than that the lens itself is faulty.

If you are unsure, take one photo each of the projector nameplate and the nameplate on the existing lens and send them to us. Verification against the actual hardware is the most reliable approach.
