Digital Projection ILS-09 Telephoto Lens Guide for E-Vision 8500 and Titan 8700

Digital Projection Genuine Lens ILS-09 is an original factory optical accessory for Digital Projection engineering projectors. It belongs to the Long Throw category, with a throw ratio of 3.70-6.30:1 (ultra long throw), matching the 0.95inch 3DLP(E-Vision/Titan) inch panel. The factory compatibility list covers 2 models; simply check the chassis model and panel size before installation—no adapter rings needed. The real value of an original lens lies not in the extra rows of numbers in the spec sheet, but in the fact that it is calibrated from the factory to the optical path and mount of that series of chassis: once fitted, image circle, edge illumination and focus travel are all at their design values, so there is no need to compensate for image quality with keystone correction.

The above specifications are subject to the official factory specifications. Mechanical dimensions, flange distance and mount type are not listed here—please verify them with us according to the chassis model. Placing an order based on a similar-looking model carries the risk that the lens will not fit.

II. Calculating Installation Distance from Throw Ratio

The throw ratio is the ratio of installation distance to image width. This genuine lens is a zoom lens (3.70-6.30:1 (ultra long throw)), so a given image size corresponds to a range of distances, and any position within that range can be brought into focus during installation.

Image SizeImage WidthRequired Installation Distance
100 inch2.15 mapprox. 7.96 – 13.54 m
120 inch2.58 mapprox. 9.55 – 16.25 m
150 inch3.22 mapprox. 11.93 – 20.32 m
200 inch4.30 mapprox. 15.91 – 27.09 m

These figures represent the clear distance from the front surface of the lens to the screen and do not include space for rear chassis cooling and cabling. They are calculated on a 16:10 aspect ratio; actual values should be confirmed by on-site measurement and against the factory manual.

Image quality differs at the two ends of the zoom range: near the short end the image is brighter with slightly softer edges; near the long end the edges are crisper but brightness drops slightly. Where the venue allows, it is recommended to place the lens around the middle of the range, and after installation first find the sharpest position on the focus ring, then fine-tune the lens shift.

III. Compatible Models (2 units)

The table below is taken from the official factory compatibility list; brightness and resolution are filled in from the model database, and a dash "—" is used where the data cannot be retrieved. No figures are guessed.

Titan 8700——

For models outside the list, please send us photos of the chassis nameplate and the existing lens so we can verify compatibility—platforms of the same generation often share the same mount, but the risk of ordering on the basis of a similar model name is not worth taking.

Throw Ratios by Model Series

The nominal throw ratio of the same ILS-09 differs depending on the series it is installed on, so the actual series of your chassis must be used when selecting.

IV. Three Checks Before Replacement

  • The panel size must match. ILS-09 is designed for the 0.95inch 3DLP(E-Vision/Titan) inch panel. Machines with a different panel size, or a different resolution, will show problems with image circle and edge illumination even if the lens physically fits.
  • Calculate the installation distance first. The nominal throw ratio of this lens is 3.70-6.30:1 (ultra long throw); use the table in Section II to map it onto the dimensions of your own venue. A fixed-focus lens offers no margin at all, and even with a zoom lens you should leave 10–20 cm at both ends.
  • Check the mount and the locking mechanism. The genuine lens is calibrated to the mount of that chassis series, and after installation you must hear it lock into place; a skewed image or soft edges are usually caused by incomplete locking rather than by the lens itself.

If you are unsure, take one photo of the chassis nameplate and one of the nameplate of the existing lens and send them to us. Verifying against the actual items is the safest approach.
