Panasonic ET-ELW30 Standard Throw Lens for PT-MZ882C, PT-MZ880C, PT-MZ780CL and 11 Other Models

Panasonic Genuine Lens ET-ELW30 is an original optical accessory for Panasonic professional projectors. It has a standard throw (Standard Throw), a throw ratio of 0.96-1.21:1, and is designed for 0.76" 3LCD panels. The factory compatibility list covers 14 models, so check the projector model and panel size before installation—there is no need to improvise with adapter rings. The value of an original lens lies not in the extra figures in the spec sheet, but in its factory calibration to the optical path and mount of the relevant projector series. Once installed, the image circle, edge illumination, and focus travel all meet their design values, with no need to use keystone correction to compensate for image quality.

For mechanical dimensions, flange distance, and mount type not listed in the specifications table, please verify the exact projector model with us. Placing an order based only on a similar model carries the risk that the lens will not fit.

2. Installation Distance from Throw Ratio

The throw ratio is the installation distance divided by the image width. This original lens is a zoom lens (0.96-1.21:1), so each image size corresponds to a range of distances, and the lens can be brought into focus at any position within that range.

Image SizeImage WidthRequired Installation Distance
100 inches2.15 mapprox. 2.06 – 2.60 m
120 inches2.58 mapprox. 2.48 – 3.12 m
150 inches3.22 mapprox. 3.10 – 3.90 m
200 inches4.30 mapprox. 4.13 – 5.20 m

These figures represent the clear distance from the front of the lens to the screen and do not include space for rear projector ventilation or cable connections. They are based on a 16:10 image; confirm the actual distances through on-site measurement and the original manufacturer's manual.

Image quality varies at the two ends of the zoom range: the image is brighter with slightly softer edges near the close end, while the edges are sharper but slightly dimmer near the far end. Where the venue allows, target the middle of the range. After installation, find the sharpest setting on the focus ring, then fine-tune the lens shift.

To check whether a model not listed is compatible, send us photos of the projector nameplate and the current lens. Projectors on platforms of the same generation often share a mount, but it is not worth taking the risk of ordering solely because the model numbers are similar.

Throw Ratio by Projector Series

The nominal throw ratio varies by projector series when the same ET-ELW30 lens is used. Select the value based on the series of the actual projector.

4. Three Checks Before Replacement

  • Confirm that the panel size matches. ET-ELW30 is designed for a 0.76" 3LCD panel. Projectors with a different panel size or resolution may experience problems with the image circle and edge illumination, even if the lens mount fits.
  • Calculate the installation distance first. This lens has a nominal throw ratio of 0.96-1.21:1. Use the table in Section 2 to calculate the distance for your venue. Fixed-focus lenses offer no adjustment margin, and zoom lenses should also leave 10–20 cm of room at both ends.
  • Verify the mount and locking mechanism. The original lens is calibrated to the mount used on that projector series. After installation, it must be heard to lock into place. A skewed image or soft edges are usually caused by incomplete locking, rather than a problem with the lens itself.

If you are unsure, send us one photo of the projector nameplate and one of the current lens nameplate. Verification against the physical units is the safest approach.
