NEC Genuine Lens NP54ZL Zoom is a factory-supplied optical accessory for NEC engineering projectors. It is a Long Throw lens with a 1.24-2.01:1 throw ratio. The factory compatibility list covers 4 models; before installation, simply verify the projector model and panel size—no adapter-ring workaround is needed. The value of a genuine lens lies not in the extra figures it adds to a specification sheet, but in the fact that it is calibrated at the factory to the optical path and mount of that projector series: once installed, the image circle, edge illumination, and focus travel are all at their design values, with no need to use keystone correction to compensate for image quality.

1. Lens Specifications
| Brand | NEC (NEC) |
| Lens Model | NP54ZL Zoom |
| Throw Ratio | 1.24-2.01:1 |
| Product Type | Long Throw |
| Compatible Models | 4 Models |
| Warranty | 12 months; after-sales service is available for damage not caused by improper use, subject to the date on the shipping invoice |
The above specifications are based on the factory specifications. Mechanical dimensions, flange distance, and mount type are not shown in the specification table. Please provide your projector model so we can verify them. Ordering solely on the basis of a similar model carries the risk of an incompatible lens.
2. Calculating Installation Distance from Throw Ratio
The throw ratio is the ratio of the installation distance to the image width. This genuine lens is a zoom lens (1.24-2.01:1), so a given image size corresponds to a range of installation distances, and the lens can be focused anywhere within that range.
| Image Size | Image Width | Required Installation Distance |
|---|---|---|
| 100 inches | 2.15 m | approx. 2.67 – 4.32 m |
| 120 inches | 2.58 m | approx. 3.20 – 5.19 m |
| 150 inches | 3.22 m | approx. 4.00 – 6.48 m |
| 200 inches | 4.30 m | approx. 5.33 – 8.64 m |
The above distances are the clear distances from the front face of the lens to the screen and do not include clearance for cooling and cable connections behind the projector. They are calculated for a 16:10 image; actual values must be confirmed through on-site measurement and the factory manual.
Image quality varies between the 2 ends of the zoom range: toward the short-throw end, the image is brighter and the edges are slightly softer; toward the long-throw end, the edges are sharper and brightness decreases slightly. Where site conditions allow, use the middle of the range. After installation, first turn the focus ring to find the sharpest setting, and then fine-tune the lens shift.
3. Compatible Projector Models (4 Models)
The following table is taken from the factory compatibility list. Brightness and resolution are populated from the model database; unavailable entries are marked “—” without making any assumptions.
| Model | Brightness | Resolution |
|---|---|---|
| PA1505UL-B | 14000 lumens | 1920x1200 |
| PA1505UL-W | 14000 lumens | 1920x1200 |
| PA1705UL-B | 16000 lumens | 1920x1200 |
| PA1705UL-W | 16000 lumens | 1920x1200 |
To determine whether a model outside the list can be used, please send us photos of the projector nameplate and the existing lens for verification. Same-generation platforms often share mounts, but the risk of ordering based solely on a similar model number is not worth taking.
Throw Ratio by Projector Series
The nominal throw ratio differs when the same NP54ZL Zoom is installed on the following projector series. For lens selection, use the value corresponding to the projector's actual series.
| Projector Series | Throw Ratio |
|---|---|
| — | 1.24-2.01:1 |
4. Three Checks Before Replacement
- Confirm the projector panel and resolution. The genuine lens is designed for a specific panel size. If the panel specifications differ, the image circle cannot cover the full image, resulting in vignetting or edge light loss after installation.
- Calculate the installation distance first. This lens has a nominal throw ratio of 1.24-2.01:1. Use the table in Section 2 to calculate the distance for your site dimensions. A fixed-focus lens offers no adjustment margin, and even a zoom lens needs 10–20 cm of clearance at both ends of the range.
- Verify the mount and locking mechanism. The genuine lens is calibrated to the mount of that projector series. You must hear the locking mechanism engage after installation. Image skew or soft edges are usually caused by an incompletely engaged lock, not by the lens itself.
If you are unsure, take a photo of the projector nameplate and a photo of the nameplate on the existing lens, and send both to us. Verification against the actual hardware is the most reliable approach.
