Optoma Original Lens YMO7 Zoom is an original optical accessory for Optoma professional projectors, featuring a standard throw and a 1.31-1.57:1 throw ratio. The manufacturer's compatibility list covers 2 models. Before installation, simply verify the projector model and panel size—no adapter rings are needed. The value of an original lens lies not in the extra figures on a specification sheet, but in the fact that it is calibrated at the factory to the optical path and mount of that projector series: the image circle, edge illumination, and focus travel are all designed values, so there is no need to use keystone correction to compensate for image quality.

I. Lens Specifications
| Brand | Optoma (Optoma) |
| Lens Model | YMO7 Zoom |
| Throw Ratio | 1.31-1.57:1 |
| Product Type | Standard throw (Standard Throw) |
| Compatible Models | 2 models |
| Warranty | 12 months; damage not caused by the user is eligible for after-sales service, based on the date shown on the sales invoice |
The above specifications are subject to the manufacturer's official specifications. Mechanical dimensions, flange distance, and mount type are not included in the specification table. Please provide the projector model so that we can verify these details with you; ordering directly based on a similar model carries the risk that the lens will not fit.
II. Converting Throw Ratio to Installation Distance
The throw ratio is the ratio of the installation distance to the image width. This original lens is a zoom lens (1.31-1.57:1), so a given image size corresponds to a range of installation distances. It can focus at any distance within that range.
| Image Size | Image Width | Required Installation Distance |
|---|---|---|
| 100 inches | 2.15 m | Approx. 2.82 – 3.38 m |
| 120 inches | 2.58 m | Approx. 3.38 – 4.05 m |
| 150 inches | 3.22 m | Approx. 4.22 – 5.06 m |
| 200 inches | 4.30 m | Approx. 5.63 – 6.75 m |
The distances above are clear distances from the front face of the lens to the screen and do not include space required for rear cooling and cabling. These figures are calculated for a 16:10 image; actual distances should be verified on site and are subject to the manufacturer's manual.
Image quality differs at the two ends of the zoom range: toward the short end, the image is brighter and the edges are slightly softer; toward the long end, the edges are sharper and brightness decreases slightly. When the venue allows, the middle of the range is recommended. After installation, first find the sharpest position on the focus ring, then fine-tune the lens shift.
III. Compatible Models (2 Models)
The table below is taken from the manufacturer's compatibility list. Brightness and resolution are populated from the model database; entries that cannot be verified are marked “—” and are not based on speculation.
| Model | Brightness | Resolution |
|---|---|---|
| EP776 | 4300 lumens | 1024x768 |
| EP782 | 4700 lumens | 1024x768 |
Models not listed may still be compatible. Send us photos of the projector nameplate and the existing lens for verification—mounts are often shared within the same generation, but ordering based only on a similar model name carries unnecessary risk.
Throw Ratio by Model Series
The nominal throw ratio of the same YMO7 Zoom lens varies across the following series, so use the value for the series to which the actual projector belongs.
| Model Series | Throw Ratio |
|---|---|
| — | 1.31-1.57:1 |
IV. Three Checks Before Replacement
- Confirm the projector chip and resolution. The original lens is designed for a specific panel size. If the panel specifications differ, the image circle cannot cover the full image, resulting in vignetting or edge light loss after installation.
- Calculate the installation distance first. This lens has a rated throw ratio of 1.31-1.57:1. Use the table in Section II to calculate the distance for your venue. A fixed-focus lens offers no adjustment margin, while a zoom lens should also allow 10–20 cm of margin at both ends of the range.
- Check the mount and locking mechanism. The original lens is calibrated to the mount of that projector series, and you must hear it lock into place after installation. A skewed image or soft edges are usually caused by incomplete locking, not by the lens itself.
If you are unsure, take one photo of the projector nameplate and one of the existing lens nameplate and send them to us. Verification against the actual products is the most reliable approach.
