Christie 163-119102-01 HC Zoom Long Throw Lens: Fits 5 Models incl. Eclipse G3, Griffyn 4K32-RGB

Nov 06, 2026, 24:20:04 UTC

Christie Original Lens 163-119102-01 HC Zoom is an original optical accessory for Christie engineering projectors. It is a long throw lens (Long Throw) with a throw ratio of 1.45-2.17:1. The factory compatibility list covers 5 models; before installation, simply verify the chassis model and panel size—no need to improvise with adapter rings. The value of an original lens is not the extra rows of numbers on a spec sheet, but that it is calibrated at the factory to the optical path and mount of that series of chassis: once mounted, the image circle, edge illumination, and focus travel are all at their designed values, so there is no need to compensate for image quality with keystone correction.

I. Lens Specifications

BrandChristie (Christie)

The above specifications are subject to the original factory specifications. For mechanical dimensions, flange distance, and mount type not shown in the spec table, please verify with us by chassis model; ordering directly on the basis of a similar-looking model carries the risk of a lens that will not fit.

II. Converting Throw Ratio into Installation Distance

The throw ratio is the ratio of the installation distance to the image width. This original lens is a zoom (1.45-2.17:1), so a given image size corresponds to a range of distances; any mounting position within that range will focus properly.

Image SizeImage WidthRequired Installation Distance
100 inches2.15 mapprox. 3.12 – 4.67 m
120 inches2.58 mapprox. 3.74 – 5.60 m
150 inches3.22 mapprox. 4.68 – 7.00 m
200 inches4.30 mapprox. 6.23 – 9.33 m

The distances above are the clear distance from the front element of the lens to the screen, excluding space at the rear of the chassis for cooling and cabling. Figures are calculated for a 16:10 image; in practice, on-site measurement and the original factory manual take precedence.

Image quality differs at the two ends of the zoom range: near the short-throw end the image is brighter but the edges look slightly soft; near the long-throw end the edges are sharper but brightness drops slightly. Where the venue allows, it is recommended to place the lens in the middle of the range; after installation, first find the sharpest position on the focus ring, then fine-tune the shift.

III. Compatible Models (5 models)

The table below is taken from the original factory compatibility list; brightness and resolution are filled in from the model database, and where they cannot be retrieved, "—" is shown—no values are guessed.

Griffyn 4K35-RGB——
Griffyn 4K50-RGB——
Sapphire 4K40-RGBH——

For models not on the list, please send us photos of the chassis nameplate and the existing lens for verification—platforms of the same generation often share the same mount, but the risk of ordering based on a similar model name is not worth it.

Throw Ratios for Different Model Series

The rated throw ratio of the same 163-119102-01 HC Zoom differs across the series listed below; select the value according to the series your actual chassis belongs to.

IV. Three Checks Before Replacement

  • Confirm the chassis chip and resolution. Original lenses are designed for a specific panel size; with a different panel specification the image circle will not cover the full frame, resulting in vignetting or light loss at the edges.
  • Calculate the installation distance first. This lens has a rated throw ratio of 1.45-2.17:1; use the table in Section II to work it out for your own venue dimensions. A prime lens leaves no margin, and even a zoom lens needs 10–20 cm of allowance at both ends.
  • Verify the mount and locking mechanism. Original lenses are calibrated to the mount of that series of chassis, and you must hear the lock engage after installation; a skewed image or soft edges are usually caused by an incompletely locked mount, not by a fault in the lens itself.

If you are unsure, take one photo each of the chassis nameplate and the nameplate on your existing lens and send them to us; verification against the actual items is the most reliable.
