WA100 is a short-throw lens for 0.96-inch panels (Optoma), with a 0.75:1 throw ratio and lens shift. It is compatible with 6 models in 1 model series. This guide presents the lens specifications, installation distances, model compatibility list, and replacement considerations in one place.

Lens shift capability is the key differentiator of this lens. A shift range of 21.00% horizontally and 8.20% vertically allows the projector to be installed off the screen’s central axis and the image to be repositioned using lens shift, without resorting to keystone correction. Keystone correction comes at a cost—each correction step sacrifices some effective pixels and makes text edges appear blurred. In professional installations, never use keystone correction when lens shift can solve the issue; this is the baseline for image quality.
II. Calculating Installation Distance from Throw Ratio
The throw ratio is the ratio of the installation distance to the image width. This is a fixed-focus lens (0.75:1), so the installation distance varies linearly with image size, leaving no room for zoom adjustment. Accurate measurements are therefore essential before installation.
| Image Size | Image Width | Required Installation Distance |
|---|---|---|
| 100 inches | 2.15 m | Approx. 1.61 m |
| 120 inches | 2.58 m | Approx. 1.93 m |
| 150 inches | 3.22 m | Approx. 2.42 m |
| 200 inches | 4.30 m | Approx. 3.22 m |
The distances above represent the clear distance from the front surface of the lens to the screen and do not account for ventilation or cable connections at the rear of the chassis. These values are calculated for a 16:10 aspect ratio; actual measurements and the manual take precedence.
III. Compatible Models (6 Models, Optoma)
The following table is ordered from newest to oldest by model production date and includes the resolution, brightness, and zoom ratio of each model’s standard factory lens for quick identification based on project requirements.
| Model | Brightness | Resolution | Zoom Ratio |
|---|---|---|---|
| ZU1900 | 19000 lumens | WUXGA 1920×1200 | 1.33X |
| ZU1700 | 17000 lumens | WUXGA 1920×1200 | 1.33X |
| ZU2200 | 25000 lumens | WUXGA 1920×1200 | 1.33X |
| MEU962 | 25000 lumens | WUXGA 1920×1200 | 1.33X |
| CUL20K | 25000 lumens | WUXGA 1920×1200 | 1.33X |
| CUL25K | 25000 lumens | WUXGA 1920×1200 | 1.33X |
The zoom ratio refers to the zoom factor of the model’s standard factory lens (upper limit ÷ lower limit of the factory throw-ratio range), not the zoom range of the lens featured in this guide.
Compatible Factory Lens Models
All 6 models in this range can be fitted with factory lenses. Their respective throw ratios are listed below for comparison with factory lens configurations.
Optoma Factory Lenses
| Factory Lens Model | Throw Ratio |
|---|---|
| A11 | 0.65~0.75 |
| A18 | 0.84~1.02 |
| A19 | 1.02~1.36 |
| A20 | 1.2~1.5 |
| A21 | 1.5~2.0 |
| A22 | 2.0~4.0 |
| A23 | 4.0~7.2 |
| A27 | 7.2~10.8 |
The featured 0.75:1 model is closest to the factory A11 (0.65~0.75) in focal-length range, allowing a direct comparison as an alternative.
Common Characteristics of These Models
The standard factory lenses for these 6 models generally have throw ratios of 1.5-2.0:1. The featured 0.75:1 lens effectively changes the focal-length range, producing a different image size from the same projection distance—this is the direct reason for replacing the lens. It also retains full lens-shift capability, allowing the image to remain properly aligned after changing the focal-length range.
IV. Confirm Three Things Before Replacement
- Ensure the panel and resolution match. This model is designed for 0.96-inch panels. Projectors with a different panel size or resolution may show differences in projection performance, so the safest approach is to verify the nameplate on the chassis before installation.
- Check the interface and locking mechanism. Interfaces are generally compatible across platforms of the same generation, but the locking tab positions vary by generation. If the image appears skewed or its edges look soft, the lock is usually not fully engaged rather than the lens itself being faulty.
- Account for the lens-shift margin in installation planning. The shift range provides some installation flexibility, but edge image quality declines at the limits. For actual use, keep the shift within 70% of the rated values.
For models not included in the list, the safest option is to send us the chassis nameplate and a photo of the original lens for verification. Same-generation platforms often share interfaces, but the risk of placing an order based only on a similar model designation is not worth taking.
