The SC28+ is a short-throw lens for engineering projectors (Hisense and Winong), featuring a 0.88–1.33:1 throw ratio and lens shift. It is compatible with six models from one model series. This guide consolidates the lens specifications, installation distances, model compatibility list, and replacement considerations.

The lens shift capability is the key differentiator of this lens. With 110% horizontal and 50% vertical lens shift, the projector can be installed off the screen centerline and the image repositioned without requiring keystone correction. Keystone correction comes at a cost—each adjustment level reduces the effective pixel count and can blur text at the edges. In professional installations, never use keystone correction when lens shift can solve the alignment; preserving image quality is essential.

2. Calculating Installation Distance from Throw Ratio

The throw ratio is the ratio of the installation distance to the image width. This lens has a zoom range of 0.88–1.33:1, so each image size corresponds to a range of installation distances, and the lens can focus at any distance within that range.

Image SizeImage WidthRequired Installation Distance
100 inches2.15 mApprox. 1.89 – 2.86 m
120 inches2.58 mApprox. 2.27 – 3.43 m
150 inches3.22 mApprox. 2.84 – 4.29 m
200 inches4.30 mApprox. 3.78 – 5.72 m

These figures represent the clear distance from the front of the lens to the screen and do not include space required for rear cooling and cable connections. They are calculated for a 16:10 image; actual distances should be verified through on-site measurement and against the manual.

Image quality differs at the two ends of the zoom range: near the close end, the image is brighter and the edges are slightly softer; near the far end, the edges are sharper and brightness is slightly lower. Where site conditions allow, use the middle of the range. After installation, find the sharpest position using the focus ring, then fine-tune the lens shift—adjusting both variables at the same time makes precise alignment difficult.

3. Compatible Models (6 Models, Hisense and Winong)

The table below is arranged from newest to oldest by model introduction date and lists each model’s resolution, brightness, and zoom ratio for the factory-supplied lens, enabling quick selection according to project requirements.

The zoom ratios shown are the zoom factors of each model’s factory-supplied standard lens (upper limit ÷ lower limit of the factory lens’s throw-ratio range), not the zoom range of the lens featured in this article.

Common Features of These Models

The factory-supplied standard lenses for these six models mostly have throw ratios in the 1.4-2.5:1 range. The 0.88–1.33:1 model featured here effectively changes the focal-length range, producing different image sizes from the same projection distance—this is the direct reason for replacing the lens. It also retains the full lens-shift capability, allowing the image to remain properly aligned after the focal range is adjusted.

4. Three Checks Before Replacement

  • Check the panel dimensions. The panel specifications for this model have not yet been added to our database. Please send us a photo of the projector’s nameplate for verification.
  • Check the interfaces and locking mechanism. Interface compatibility is generally good across platforms of the same generation, but the locking latch position differs by generation. If the image appears skewed or the edges are not sharp after installation, the lock is usually not fully engaged rather than the lens itself being faulty.
  • Include lens shift margin in the installation plan. The shift range provides installation flexibility, but edge image quality declines at the limits, so actual use should be kept within 70% of the rated values.

To determine whether a model outside the list is compatible, it is safer to send us photos of the projector nameplate and original lens for verification. Platforms of the same generation often share the same interfaces, but the risks of ordering based only on a similar model designation outweigh the convenience.
