FU7100-1 is a medium-to-long-throw lens for 0.8-inch DLP panels (SML), with a throw ratio of 3.98–6.68:1 and lens shift. It is compatible with 2 projector models across 1 model series. This article lays out the lens specifications, installation distances, model compatibility list, and replacement key points all in one place.
I. Lens Specifications
| Model | FU7100-1 |
| Internal Model | — |
| Series | FU Series |
| Throw Ratio | 3.98–6.68:1 |
| Lens Shift | Horizontal ±23.2% · Vertical ±17.7 |
| Compatible Panel | 0.80 inch |
| Models Covered | 2 models / 1 model series |
| Warranty | 12 months; damage not caused by mishandling can be handled through after-sales service, based on the date on the shipping invoice |
Lens shift capability is the key differentiator of this lens. A shift range of ±23.2% horizontal and ±17.7% vertical means the projector can be installed off the screen's central axis and the image repositioned by lens shift, without relying on keystone correction. Keystone correction comes at a price — every step of correction sacrifices some effective pixels and softens text edges. In professional installation, never use keystone correction when lens shift can solve the problem; that is the baseline for image quality.
II. Converting Throw Ratio into Installation Distance
The throw ratio is the ratio of the installation distance to the image width. This lens is a zoom lens (3.98–6.68:1), so a given image size corresponds to a range of distances, and any position within that range can be focused during installation.
| Image Size | Image Width | Required Installation Distance |
|---|---|---|
| 100 inches | 2.15 m | approx. 8.56 – 14.36 m |
| 120 inches | 2.58 m | approx. 10.27 – 17.23 m |
| 150 inches | 3.22 m | approx. 12.84 – 21.54 m |
| 200 inches | 4.30 m | approx. 17.11 – 28.72 m |
The above is the clear distance from the front element of the lens to the screen, without accounting for rear cooling and cable-routing space. Figures are calculated for a 16:10 aspect ratio; actual values are subject to on-site measurement and the manual.
Image quality differs at the two ends of the zoom: near the short-throw end the image is brighter and the edges slightly softer; near the long-throw end the edges are sharper and brightness slightly lower. If the venue allows, it is recommended to place the unit in the middle of the range. After installation, first find the sharpest position on the focus ring, then fine-tune the shift — moving both variables at once makes it difficult to dial in.
III. Compatible Models (2 Models, SML)
The table below is sorted by model production date, from newest to oldest, and includes the resolution, brightness, and zoom ratio of the factory lens for each model, making it easy to locate the right option for project requirements.
| Model | Brightness | Resolution | Zoom Ratio |
|---|---|---|---|
| SML-L2000U | 23000 lumens | WUXGA 1920×1200 | 1.61X |
| SML-L2300U | 23000 lumens | WUXGA 1920×1200 | 1.61X |
The zoom ratio is the zoom factor of the factory standard lens for that model (upper limit ÷ lower limit of the factory throw ratio range), not the zoom range of the lens discussed in this article.
Common Traits of These Models
The factory standard lenses for these 2 models mostly fall within the 1.18-1.9:1 throw ratio range. The model in this article, at 3.98–6.68:1, effectively shifts the focal range, producing a different image size from the same projection distance — which is precisely the direct reason to change the lens; at the same time, full lens shift capability is retained, so the image can still be aligned after the focal range is changed.
IV. Three Things to Confirm Before Replacement
- Panel and resolution must match. This model fits a 0.80-inch panel. Machines with a different panel size or a different resolution will show some differences in projection performance, so checking against the nameplate on the chassis before installation is the safest approach.
- Interface and locking mechanism. Interfaces are generally interchangeable within the same platform generation, but the position of the locking tab varies between generations. If the image appears skewed or the edges are not sharp after installation, it is usually because the lock is not fully engaged, not because of a problem with the lens itself.
- Factor the shift margin into the installation. The shift range leaves some margin for installation, but edge image quality degrades when it is pushed to the limit; it is recommended to keep actual use within 70% of the rated value.
For models not on the list, it is safer to send us the chassis nameplate and a photo of the original lens for verification — models of the same platform generation often share the same interface, but the risk of placing an order based on a similar model number is not worth taking.
