Digital Projection SL-4K-122 Standard Throw Lens: INSIGHT 4K Laser, INSIGHT Laser 8K, INSIGHT MLS

Digital Projection Genuine Lens SL-4K-122 is an original optical accessory for Digital Projection professional projectors. It is a standard-throw lens (Standard Throw) with a 1.13-1.72:1 (zoom) throw ratio, designed for the 0.95inch 3DLP(INSIGHT) inch panel. The official compatibility list covers 3 models; before installation, simply verify the projector model and panel size—no adapter rings required. The value of a genuine lens lies not in the extra figures in its specification sheet, but in the fact that it is calibrated at the factory to the optical path and mount of that projector series. Once installed, the image circle, edge illumination, and focusing travel all match the design values, eliminating the need to use keystone correction to compensate for image quality.

The above specifications are subject to the manufacturer's official specifications. Mechanical dimensions, flange distance, and mount type are not shown in the specification table; please verify them with us using the projector model. Placing an order solely because the model numbers are similar carries the risk that the lens will not fit.

II. Calculating Installation Distance from Throw Ratio

The throw ratio is the ratio of the installation distance to the image width. This genuine lens has a zoom throw ratio of 1.13-1.72:1 (zoom), so each image size corresponds to a range of distances. The lens can be focused at any installation distance within that range.

Image SizeImage WidthRequired Installation Distance
100 inches2.15 mApprox. 2.43 – 3.70 m
120 inches2.58 mApprox. 2.92 – 4.44 m
150 inches3.22 mApprox. 3.64 – 5.55 m
200 inches4.30 mApprox. 4.86 – 7.40 m

These figures represent the clear distance from the front surface of the lens to the screen and do not include ventilation or cable-management space at the rear of the projector. They are calculated for a 16:10 image aspect ratio; in practice, refer to on-site measurements and the manufacturer's manual.

Image quality differs at the two ends of the zoom range. Near the close end, the image is brighter and the edges are slightly softer; near the far end, the edges are sharper and brightness is slightly lower. Where the site allows, we recommend positioning the lens in the middle of the range. After installation, first turn the focus ring to find the sharpest image, then fine-tune the lens shift.

III. Compatible Models (3 units)

The following table is taken from the official compatibility list. Brightness and resolution are populated from the model database; where the data is unavailable, “—” is shown rather than making assumptions.

For compatibility with models not listed, please send us photos of the projector nameplate and the existing lens for verification. Platforms of the same generation often share a mount, but ordering based solely on a similar model name is not worth the risk.

Throw Ratio by Projector Series

The rated throw ratio differs among the series below when the same SL-4K-122 is installed. Use the value for the series of the actual projector when selecting a lens.

IV. Three Checks Before Replacement

  • Make sure the panel size matches. SL-4K-122 is designed for the 0.95inch 3DLP(INSIGHT) inch panel. A projector with a different panel size or resolution may physically fit the mount, but its image circle and edge illumination may be compromised.
  • Calculate the installation distance first. This lens has a rated throw ratio of 1.13-1.72:1 (zoom). Use the table in Section II to calculate the distance for your own site dimensions. A fixed-focus lens offers no adjustment margin, and even a zoom lens should leave 10–20 cm of margin at both ends.
  • Verify the mount and locking mechanism. The genuine lens is calibrated to the mount of that projector series, and you must hear the locking mechanism engage after installation. A skewed image or soft edges are usually due to incomplete locking rather than a problem with the lens itself.

If you are uncertain, take one photo each of the projector nameplate and the existing lens nameplate and send them to us. Verification against the actual hardware is the most reliable approach.
